The Frank Sinatra Chair
In Theatre Arts and Music
THE SINATRA CHAIR WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1980
with initial funds from the proceeds of the 14th Annual Golden
Circle Theatre Party, https://www.scu.edu/golden-circle/, of
which Frank Sinatra was the headliner. The Sinatra Chair funds
an artistic residency program at Santa Clara University.
To celebrate the opening of the Edward M. Dowd Art and Art History Building
this fall, which also launches our “Arts District” on campus: music, theatre, dance,
visual arts, digital filmmaking, literary arts, and the de Saisset Museum, the College
of Arts and Sciences is pleased to welcome two Sinatra Chairs for 2016-17,
both important advocates of cultural diversity and promoting social justice:
art, social commentary, journalism, and intimate reverie.”
Ms. Smith is University Professor at New York University
