Workout:
• Morning run or cycle – 4 miles
for joggers, 15 miles for cyclists.
• Plenty of stretching throughout
the day whether yoga or CrossFit
warm ups, to improve core
strength and stability, and to
protect the lower back.
• Two hour row.
This routine will need to be
performed at least 5 days a
week to prepare for the event.
A caloric surplus ensures that
fat and fuel will be constantly
stored up for when the team
is eventually cast off from La
Gomera.
THE FIREFIGHTERS
CHARITY
Team Noble are supporting The
Fire Fighters Charity, one of our
essential emergency services
that provide services that
enhance the quality of life for
serving and retired firefighters, fire
personnel and their families.
The four-man boat and
equipment will be sold on return,
with the proceeds going to The
Fire Fighters Charity.
EQUIPMENT
A significant amount of
equipment is required to row
across the Atlantic Ocean
safely. All this equipment will
need to be purchased by
Team Noble and subsequently
is open to sponsorship or gifts
from individuals and businesses.
Firestyle is an official Gold
Sponsor of Team Noble, however
the team need to raise a further
£30,000 before their sponsorship
is complete. Here are just some
of the costs associated with the
race:
• Race Entry Fee - £19,000
• Boat - £35,000
• Satellite phone and aerial,
including bills - £2,200
• Solar Panels - £1,500
• Food - £1,000
Any donations would be much
appreciated, and can be made
via the Team Noble website. All
contributions of £10 or more gets
your name on the Wall of Heroes
– a huge vinyl sticker of every
contributor’s name – and rowed
3,000 miles across the Atlantic!
WHY TEAM NOBLE?
In memory of boss, colleague,
and friend Watch Manager John
Noble.
On the 23rd of January 2008 boss,
colleague and friend Watch Manager
John Noble was tragically killed when
the fire appliance he was travelling in
was involved in a road traffic collision.
The crew were responding to an
emergency call at a local school.
John was a highly regarded, dedicated
and popular watch manager with over
23 years’ experience in the Fire Service,
he had travelled as far as Texas, U.S.A
to attend Urban Search and Rescue
training and Russia to train firefighters in
Road Traffic Collision Extrication.
John was just 46 years old at the
time and left behind a wife and two
children. The other members of the
crew, including team member Allan
Huntly, suffered extensive injuries in the
accident with differing levels of care
required.
We feel a fitting tribute to Johnny is to
dedicate this race to his memory and
for us to raise much needed funds for
firefighters across the UK who may need
the charities help.
