WHAT IS
1
“THE FIRST
100 DAYS?”
The idea of measuring the success and
accomplishments of a president during
their first 100 days in office originates
with the presidency of Franklin
D. Roosevelt. The term “The
First 100 Days” was coined
by him on July 24, 1933, in a
radio address, although he
was referring to the 100-day
session of Congress, rather
than the first 100 days of his
administration.
WHAT DOES A PRESIDENT DO IN A DAY?
As President Junn started her
journey at Stanislaus State, she
became immersed in getting
to know the wonderful people who
make up our campus and surrounding
community. Making connections that
will build thoughtful partnerships and
pave the way for collaboration has
been incredibly important to her. She
included the “First 100 Days” theme
in her Fall Convocation address
(on Day 60) to the campus community
and shared the many warm greetings
that she and her husband, Dr. Allan
Greenberg, had received upon arriving
in Turlock.
Since then, her busy schedule has
encompassed meeting more than 1,000
people including students, faculty, staff,
administrators, alumni, community
members and elected officials.
A typical day for President Junn begins
at 8 a.m. and often includes substantive
meetings with key members of the
campus community including regular
weekly meetings with members of the
Academic Senate, Senate Executive
Committee and the President’s
cabinet. She has been engaged in
critical conversations on a daily basis
with departments across campus —
including Student Affairs, University
Police, University Advancement,
Facilities Services, Business and
Financial Services and many more —
to gain a clear understanding of the
work that is being accomplished at
Stanislaus State and what opportunities
exist to collaborate and work together
for the future of the University and the
region.
She’s also been active in student life
at Stan State, frequently meeting with
student clubs, Associated Students,
Inc., and the University Student Union.
One of her favorite things to do is have
lunch with students in Main Dining
every few weeks. She and ASI President
Nicole Larson recently hosted a “Pizza
with the Presidents” event where
students could chat casually with and
ask questions of the two presidents.
When her daily meetings conclude,
often around 6 p.m., President Junn
has been frequently attending evening
events and activities on campus and
throughout the community. On other
days, you’re likely to see her office light
on in MSR well into the evening hours
as she is responding to emails and
other communications. In addition to
her on-campus activities, she travels to
Long Beach once a month to connect
with the Chancellor and other CSU
presidents and to attend the CSU
Board of Trustees meetings. She also
attends national higher education
conferences to stay up-to-date on the
latest developments in student success
and university administration.
October 8 marked her 100th day as
president at Stanislaus State. The
photos on the following pages reflect
just some of the highlights of President
Junn’s “First 100 Days,” including a few
initiatives and committees that she
has launched as the 11th president of
Stanislaus State.
