FRIENDLY REMINDERS
PET REMINDER
Stone Gate, Canyon Lakes West and Miramesa are happy to be a petfriendly
community! We even have a dog park for your furry friends to play
in located in Miramesa across the street from the clubhouse!
Due to the numerous calls we have received from homeowners, the
Association would like to kindly remind you of the following:
• Please remember to bring a baggie to pick up your pet’s waste and
dispose of it properly
• Please clean up immediately after your pet
• Please remember ALL pets (including cats) must be kept on a lease during
walks throughout the community
Also, please remember, the Association is not responsible for assuring
the community is completely waste free. If everyone does their part by
cleaning up after your pet, you not only contribute to the beautification
of our community but also towards the elimination of an exasperating
inconvenience in our community.
TRASH CANS
Please be sure to keep all garbage in a proper receptacle with a securable lid
to prevent pets and/or wind from creating a mess in our community. Trash
cans must also be kept sanitary and out of public/street view in-between
trash pickup days. Residents are permitted to set their trashcan(s) out after
6 PM the evening before their respective trash pickup days, but they must
be out of public/street view the same day of pickup. The Association would
also like to remind residents not to litter. Please join our efforts in keeping
Stone Gate, Canyon Lakes West and Miramesa a beautiful place to live by
disposing of your trash in the proper waste receptacles.
LAWN CARE
Summer is in full effect causing grass in our community to grow quicker
than usual! The Association would like to encourage residents to maintain
their property on a weekly basis during the summer time by mowing their
lawn, edging driveways and walkways and weeding their yard (including
the areas between the concrete slabs). Unmaintained yards can be quite
an eye-sore and may be subject to a force mow. Force mows will be issued
in the event an unsightly lawn is not rectified within the specific timeframe.
To report any unmaintained yards, please email Mike Graves at mgraves@
pmghouston.com. Thank you again for your contribution in keeping our
community a beautiful place to live!
AMENITIES
BEWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Remember, we do live in a big city. We have all the elements here and
we have people looking to take advantage of people they perceive as
victims. If a crime is going to occur, the offender must have three things
to accomplish the task: desire, ability and opportunity. Personally, there is
not much that you can do about the offender’s desire and ability. However,
you can take steps to control the offender’s opportunity.
• BE AWARE of your surroundings! Giving the appearance of not paying
attention and not being alert is what offenders look for in a victim. Turn off
your ipod/headphones or cell phone to reduce your risk of being a crime
victim.
• You should never walk alone! However, if you must walk alone, have a
plan and choose open well lighted and well traveled areas.
• When walking you should walk facing traffic. Do not read while walking or
standing on the street. Be cautious of drivers that stop to talk to you or are
not paying attention to the road.
• Avoid being on the street alone if you are upset or distracted.
• Always tell someone where you’ll be and what time you are going to
return.
• If you think you are being followed: cross the street, change directions,
keep looking back so the person knows you can’t be surprised. Look for a
crowded area and move quickly.
• TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS: If something “feels wrong”, something probably
is wrong.
• If you find yourself in a situation with an assailant, don’t be afraid to
loudly call attention to what the assailant is doing (“Help!” “Fire!” “Get
your hands off me!” “This stranger is bothering me...”, etc.).
Stone Gate Communities | November 2016
• Report suspicious persons to the police immediately!
• Keep emergency numbers near your phone.
• Do not leave messages on your door or voice mail, etc., indicating you are
away or when you will return.
• Be cautious of telephone surveys and NEVER... give out any personal
information.
• Do not prop open doors or gates. This will put everyone at risk.
• Always LOCK your doors, garage and windows.
• Keep access cards, keys and remotes in a safe place. Do not leave them
lying out in the open. Never leave them on a table or shelf near your door.
It takes less than 10 seconds to look into your open door and steal items
from a table or shelf near the door.
DEED RESTRICTIONS PROHIBIT FIREWORKS
The Board asks that residents refrain from celebrating the holidays with the
use of fireworks and firework displays. This not only poses a nuisance and
disturbance to your neighbors, it also leaves a messy aftermath to be cleaned
up. Thank you for helping to keep Stone Gate community firework free!
Please call Top Gun to report any firework displays and/or ANY suspicious
activity in our community. Top gun can be reached at any of the numbers
below:
Top Gun:
713-907-2744
713-256-8150
Thank you again for helping to keep our neighborhood firework free
and safe!
DEED RESTRICTION REMINDERS
DOGS: Please remember barking can be a nuisance to your neighbors. Do
your best to be respectful of the noise level on your property. Pets must be
kept on a leash when walking and don’t forget pick up after them.
LOUD NOISE/MUSIC: Domestic neighbor noise, such as DIY work or loud
music, is the most common cause of noise complaint. It is advisable to take
steps to resolve the problem yourself before filing a complaint with the
management company, such as speaking face-to-face or writing a letter to
your neighbor to explain how you are affected. If you have been unable
or not felt comfortable with resolving a problem with domestic neighbor
noise, please call Top Gun at 281-905-2522 or 713-907-2744, so they may
ask your neighbor to lower the noise.
GATE UPDATE AND TOP GUN SECURITY
Dear Homeowner:
Customer privacy and security have never been more important. We want
to give you an update on the gates and cameras and after-hours phone
numbers to Top Gun Security.
Currently we have over 120 cameras up and running. We fixed the cameras
first to determine who was responsible for damaging the gates by pushing
them open with their vehicles. Any vehicle caught on camera damaging
the gates will be responsible for all damages to the gate and gate opener.
We are in the process of replacing all old hydraulic gate openers with new
mechanical gate openers. The new mechanical gate openers are stronger,
more reliable and are able to handle the weight of the gate.
We are also installing new call boxes at the same time as we are putting
in the new mechanical gate openers. You may see some street boring or
cutting of the concrete to lay new lines for the system.
Below we have provided after-hours contact numbers for you to report any
suspicious activity. You may share this information with other homeowners.
We believe the responsible use of the information is an important part of
meeting your needs and provide consistent service.
We value you as a homeowner and thank you for your support.
S-G Owners Association Board of Directors
PARKING IN THE STREETS
Homeowners please be aware S-G Owners Association has a Parking Policy
for the community. PMG Houston will continue to enforce the Rules for the
policy as they complete inspections or the violation is reported to them.
If a vehicle is parked in violation the POA has the right to fine per incident
after a warning notice, fines start at $50 and go up to $100 per violation,
every 11 days it is reported. Also, in the gated sections of the community,
the POA has the right to tow the vehicle at the vehicle owner’s expense. If
you have extenuating circumstances and need to park on the street, please
send a written detailed request to the Mike Graves. This will be reviewed by
the Board at the next available Board Meeting.
Parking is only allowed in the street during daylight hours only when the
driveway can hold no additional vehicles. This includes, but not limited
to; residents, guests/visitors, caregivers, home health care providers
and domestic help vehicles. Vehicles that are excluded are vehicles
that are providing a routine service to the home, for example, marked
construction workers, landscapers, plumbers or any other commercial
visitor vehicle that is marked for commercial use. Also, excluded is official
law enforcement/emergency vehicles.
LET US KEEP OUR NEIGHBORHOODS LITTER FREE!
Take responsibility for yourself & be a good neighbor! Keep our streets &
neighborhood trash & litter free! Make it a habit, be a good neighbor & do your part!
If each person did their own part (around the outside of their home,
including their little stretch of street in front of their house), what a better
place this would be to live!
A clean environment/neighborhood makes people feel good about
themselves. They will keep it clean. Some need to be reminded. Others
need to be continually reminded. It takes time to change habits. Keeping
your neighborhood clean is a habit that takes conscious effort.
CCS WARRIOR ATHLETES SET RECORDS
The fall sports season at CyChristian has been a rewarding one for middle school and high
school athletes. The Warrior football teams are experiencing one of the best seasons in school
history. Cross country athletes set records when they competed on the toughest course in
Texas and volleyball teams brought home trophies from multiple tournaments. In keeping
with the athletic theme for 2016 of “character, courage, commitment,” CCS coaches have
emphasized these qualities in practices, games and events to encourage the team through
the season but, more importantly, to train them for life.
CFISD MENTOR PROGRAM
The CFISD Mentor Program is a cooperative effort of volunteers from
businesses, faith-based and/or non-profit organizations, the community
and the school district designed to encourage students (elementary
through high school) to finish school and focus on future education and
career goals. A mentor is a suitable role committed to helping a student
with his/her academic and social development. Mentors meet with
students one-on-one for approximately 30 minutes each week. Currently,
over 600 mentors are matched with students.
To become a mentor, you must: attend a training session (REGISTER);
complete a global volunteer/mentor application; consent to a criminal
history record check; Training Sessions - Registration is REQUIRED.
Fri. 11/11 Mentor Training 12-1 PM
More training sessions will be added throughout the year. If you would like
to schedule mentor training at your place of business, please contact the
Community Engagement department, Leslie Francis, Director of Marketing
and Business Relations at 281-894-3950. A virtual volunteer account will
be created for you in vSoft once you have been approved as a mentor (this
is the system that the front desk will use at the school in order to give you
a nametag). Your login information will then be sent to you by vSoft via
email. Access your account by visiting www.v-volunteer.com.
CFISD POLICE COLLECTED DRUGS FOR
DISPOSAL ON DEA’S ‘TAKE BACK DAY’
The CFISD police department station, located at 11200 Telge Road,
served as a prescription drug drop-off site for the Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA)’s Take Back Day, on October 22 nd from 10 AM to 2 PM.
The drive-through service in the station’s front parking lot was a free and
anonymous to the community. Take Back Day can help prevent pill abuse
and theft by ridding homes of the potentially dangerous prescriptions.
The CFISD police station first served as a Take Back Day site on April 30 th ,
collecting 22 boxes to become one of the DEA’s largest collection points
that day.
This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue.
Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to
diversion, misuse and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the
U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and
overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused
prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the
home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their
usual methods for disposing of unused medicines - flushing them down the
toilet or throwing them in the trash - both pose potential safety and health
hazards. For more information about the disposal of prescription drugs or
about the October 22 nd Take Back Day event, visit the DEA Diversion website.
Community has been holding
“Rally Nights” at area elementary
Scouts, Girl Scout Leaders and
to form new troops. We had
assistance from many of our
adult volunteers and Girl Scouts
ranging in age from Brownie Girl
The Girl Scouts who attended
performed flag ceremonies and
taught Girl Scout songs, skits and games to the new girls. Most of the rallies concluded with the
girls singing for their families and finishing up with the traditional Friendship Circle and “Make
New Friends” song. Many thanks to troops 113001, 113035, 113006, 16044, 16369 and to the other
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA - COPPERHEAD DISTRICT
For 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found
in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant
in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting
helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership
skills, outdoor skills and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives.
The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities
that allow them to:
• Try new things.
• Provide service to others.
• Build self-confidence.
• Reinforce ethical standards.
Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as individuals
while promoting activities that lead to personal responsibility and high
self-esteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made, peer
pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made.
Scouting provides a rewarding experience for boys ages 5 to 21. Scouting
through the local Packs and Troops teach outdoor and life skills which help
our youth Be Prepared. Your area is serviced by the BSA Sam Houston Area
Counsel - Copperhead District which includes 23 Cub Scout Packs (boys 5
to 10 years old), 13 Troops (boys from 11 to 18 years old) and 10 Venturing
units (boys and girls from 14 to 21). Our Units typically meet weekly.
Many of our units are supported by the local Elementary Schools including:
Birkes, Copeland, Duryea, Fiest, Hemmingway, Holmsley, Horne, Jowell,
Lowery, Metcalf, Owens, Postma, Robinson, Sheridan, Tipps, Walker and
Wilson.
Other Community groups include: Autumn Creek Baptist Church, Beck and
Masten Automotive, Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Copperfield
Church, Crossbridge Church, Cy-Fair Kiwanis Club, Deerfield Village HOA,
LDS Bear Creek and Copperfield Wards, Middlegate Village HOA, Peace
