Top business women join<br />
North East LEP board<br />
Gillian Marshall, Jacqui Miller-Charlton and<br />
Sandra Thompson have been appointed to<br />
the partnership’s business growth board<br />
Three of the region’s most respected business women have<br />
joined the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP)<br />
business growth board to help lead its strategic direction<br />
and delivery.<br />
Gillian Marshall, chief executive of the Entrepreneurs’<br />
Forum (pictured), Jacqui Miller-Charlton, the main board director<br />
and shareholder of Miller International Limited, and Sandra<br />
Thompson, Newcastle partner at accountancy group EY, are set to<br />
bring vast public and private sector experience to the board, having<br />
reached the top in their respective industries.<br />
The trio have been joined by Ryan Maughan, managing director<br />
of Cramlington-based AVID Technology Group Limited and will<br />
replace outgoing members Julian Leighton, Allison Thompson, Rob<br />
Earnshaw and James Hall.<br />
Andrew Hodgson, North East LEP Chair, said: “We are delighted<br />
to welcome four exceptional business people onto our board whose<br />
skills, expertise and business insight will be crucial at a time of great<br />
challenge for the North East economy.”<br />

wins 2016 bfa HSBC female<br />
franchisee of the year<br />
A businesswoman from Morpeth has been named<br />
bfa HSBC Female Franchisee of the Year.<br />
Tricia Craig, who single-handedly runs her<br />
business, Metro Rod, received the accolade at the<br />
British Franchise Association’s HSBC Franchisee of<br />
the Year Awards 2016.<br />
Tricia co-founded the Newcastle based drainage<br />
business in 1999 and took overall control of in<br />
2013 by buying out her business partner. Now<br />
branded Metro Rod North East, the business<br />
incorporates Sunderland and Middlesbrough and<br />
employs 19 staff.<br />
