928A<br />

LOG MAX TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN<br />

AVAILABLE FOR SMALL CARRIERS.<br />

<strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 928 is a small and light head making it the<br />

obvious choice for small-sized wheel and trackbased<br />

harvesters in the 7 to 15 ton range.<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 928 features a hydraulically driven saw with pressure<br />

controlled sawing force and flow controlled chain speed.<br />

This saw unit is able to fell trees up to 420 mm.<br />

This compact head weighs in at only 424 kg (935 lbs) in its<br />

standard configuration but still generates a powerfull feed force<br />

of over 1,5 tons (3,350 lbf).<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> patented knife control system minimizes feed<br />

friction and the unique compound curve delimbing knives<br />

provide the <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 928 with an outstanding stem<br />

coverage and increased log quality.<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 4000T, our latest thinning head has<br />

impressive pulling force and high speed feeding.<br />

This head has an entirely new frame construction where the saw box has<br />

been moved backwards and outwards, the higher part of the frame inched<br />

forward reducing friction and clogging in the measuring wheel. The new<br />

hydraulics layout greatly improves power and feeding speed making<br />

this 833 kg* harvesting head the ultimate choice for thinning and<br />

lighter final cuts.<br />

This powerful thinning head comes equipped with the firstgeneration<br />

<strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 218 and 318 True-Cut saw units with up<br />

various types of carriers. Low weight is essential for<br />

CTL-method which mostly require wheeled carriers.<br />

<strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 5000D, the latest update of our previous big seller is designed<br />

to carry out a broad range of harvesting jobs, from thinning to medium<br />

final cut.<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 5000D can be equipped with four point measuring<br />

and a Hultdins Supercut saw (19 cc or 30cc).<br />

All these features combined with Active Friction Control,<br />

HARD-WEARING DESIGN<br />

BASED ON DECADES OF IMPROVEMENTS<br />

<strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 6000B is a light-weight head suitable for<br />

final felling. This head combines low weight with<br />

high power and is especially designed for large<br />

wheeled carriers.<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 6000B is built on well proven hydraulics with a maximum<br />

hydraulic pressure of 260 bar (3 771 psi) and max flow of 280 l/min<br />

(74 gpm).<br />

The feed rollers always work perpendicular to the tree which has<br />

for benefit to minimize friction losses and roller penetration.<br />

This geometry alos ensures accurate length and measuring for<br />

high quality timber.<br />

High performance saw hydraulics provide full flow to the<br />

bottom saw for fast cutting.<br />

<strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 6000B can be equipped with Hultdins Supercut<br />

FOR OPTIMAL COVERAGE<br />

<strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 6000Twin is a light-weight head suitable<br />

for “low branches” featuring a twin bottom knife<br />

for optimal delimbing from the lowest part of the<br />

trunk to the top.<br />

The delimbing unit has five movable knives with patented positioning<br />

to minimize friction losses and increase the active pulling force.<br />

The knives have wide cutting edges for handling thick branches,<br />

their shape assures good delimbing and minimized damage to<br />

the log.<br />

The unique compound curve delimbing knife profile<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 7000C harvesting head is built around<br />

tough frame and combines high drive power and<br />

high speed. This head performs very well in heavy<br />

and branchy trunks.<br />

Variable displacement feed roller motors provide fast speed in<br />

smaller wood and automatically regulate to provide more power in<br />

tougher limbed trees. Well placed guards and heavy covers protect<br />

internal components and hoses from damage.<br />

High performance saw hydraulics provide full flow to the<br />

bottom saw for fast cutting in all timber sizes.<br />

The all new <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 7000Twin, following the<br />

success of the 6000Twin, is a new heavy-duty head<br />

specifically engineered for low branched trees.<br />

High power is one of the <strong>heads</strong> main feature, able the deliver up to<br />

41.7kN and weighing only 2010 kg.<br />

<strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 7000Twin, featuring twin bottom delimbing knives, is made<br />

for the really heavy branched timber. The new cast felling link<br />

makes it the ideal choice for large tracked carriers.<br />

The 7000Twin is the first <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> head to feature a new wiring<br />

optimized for <strong>Log</strong> Mate 500. This improved wiring eliminates<br />

the need for the lower junction box.<br />

DEVELOPED SPECIALLY FOR EUCALYPTUS<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> E6 head is the result of team work and<br />

<strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> experience. This head has been developed<br />

to meet the demands of eucalyptus harvesting.<br />

With angled feed rollers arms and five delimbing knives the debarking<br />

process on <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> E6 is optimised .<br />

The frame has an idle support roller in its center to minimize<br />

friction. In the bottom part of the frame a fixed delimbing knife<br />

has been welded in. This knife has a contour optimized<br />

for Ø40 - 250mm trees.<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> patended knife control system increases<br />

productivity by minimizing feed friction. Unique<br />

compound curve delimbing knife profile provides<br />

outstanding stem coverage and increased log quality.<br />

This fixed mount configuration from <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> utilizes<br />

the design and durability of the 7000XT series and<br />

gives the owner/operator the versatility of control<br />

falling and bunching.<br />

The hydraulically operated rotation unit with positioning and free<br />

floating function is attached directly to the frame. The frame of the<br />

<strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 7000 XT Fixed Head features a top saw, a minimized saw<br />

box and a fixed protection plate.<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 7000XT fixed head is a control felling unit designed<br />

to help with those tough jobs, such as pipeline operations and<br />

right-aways.<br />

The 7000XT fixed head allows the operator to control fall,<br />

bunch, and process timber up to 710 mm (28”) in diameter<br />

with a maximum cutting capacity of 800 mm (31.5”).<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 12000XT is the extreme duty head for<br />

big tree production, multi-stem processing of smaller<br />

softwoods or processing crooked hardwoods.<br />

This is the most rugged <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> head and is available in harvester<br />

or processor configurations. Built using the same design philosophy<br />

as the successful smaller <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> <strong>heads</strong>, the <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 12000 is<br />

unsurpassed in durability and performance.<br />

With over 5 t. of delimbing force, this head is able to handle<br />

the most severe wood with ease. Large rear cover with<br />

hydraulic assist opens for full service access.<br />

High production ¾” pitch bottom saw cuts up to 1,020<br />

500 CONTROL SYSTEM<br />

The rugged and compact <strong>Log</strong> Mate 500 is built from high quality components.<br />

This state-of-the-art control system is ready to meet the future of logging.<br />

RUGGED HARDWARE<br />

Built using rugged hardware the <strong>Log</strong> Mate 500 will withstand rough outdoor<br />

environment. The computer is IP65 standard compliant and has a Solid State<br />

Drive eliminating moving parts. The brand new communication modules are<br />

all built according to the tough IP standards.<br />

One module is mounted on the head, two in the cabin to transfer and<br />

receive data and power to the harvesting head. They all feature standard<br />

M12 and Deutsch contacts. All communications are made over a two channel<br />

CANbus system.<br />

MORE THAN JUST A CONTROL SYSTEM<br />

As the computer is Windows based it allows the operator to install programs<br />

for example GPS and internet connection. Thanks to the system being<br />

Windows based it makes it easier to administrate and update/upgrade the<br />

<strong>Log</strong> Mate 500 system.<br />

AN IMPRESSIVE NEW SAW UNIT - THE LOG MAX TRUE-CUT<br />

The <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> 4000T and 3000T feature the first generation 318 True-Cut<br />

and 218 True-Cut, both saws have a 19cc motor, the 318 has automatic<br />

chain tensioning the 218 has manual tensioning.<br />

The key component of the True-Cut system is the intelligent<br />

saw motor with integrated valving solutions for saw motor<br />

speed and saw bar control. The True-Cut saw maintains<br />

an almost constant chain speed of 40 m/s throughout the<br />

cutting cycle.<br />

By locating the valve for motor speed control inside the<br />

motor it is able to react instantly to changes in motor<br />

speed and practically eliminate any over-revving that is<br />

seen in a conventional saw unit.<br />

The True-Cut saw units also features a longer stroke cylinder<br />

and a higher resolution cutting control sensor. These<br />

additions provide for a more precise control of the saw<br />

bar resulting in maximized cutting performance and color<br />

marking precision. The True-Cut is optimized at the factory<br />

and should not need any further setting changes in the<br />

field.<br />

The Komatsu interface makes it possible to use Valmet/Komatsu<br />

carriers. It is applicable to the original Valmet control systems<br />

<strong>Max</strong>i and VMM2000, from 1994 and onward. The Interface<br />

works as a converter, translating the signals between the<br />

systems in each direction.<br />

John Deere / Timberjack Interface<br />

Take full control over your <strong>Log</strong> <strong>Max</strong> harvesting head on your<br />

Timberjack carrier equipped with the original Timberjack<br />

control system. John Deere / Timberjack Interface is developed<br />

Rottne Interface<br />

Ponsse Interface<br />

Thanks to the Rottne Interface you have the possibility to<br />

combine your Rottne harvester with the most relailable and<br />

productive harvester head on the market. The Rottne Interface<br />

works with the DSP4000 by translating the signal between the<br />

harvester head and the base machine which means that no<br />

rewirering is required.<br />
