Marshall is a fantastic school with a highly involved<br />
parent community. Because the school is only<br />
K-2, it is a very nurturing environment for young<br />
children. The new principal, Ms. Samuels, seems<br />
very competent and responsive. My child has been<br />
very happy with the school, and she seems to be<br />
thriving there. We love going to events at the school<br />

We bought our house in this district thinking we<br />
would upgrade to a “better” elementary when we<br />
had kids. We ended up staying in our house, sending<br />
our daughter to Clinton and I am so glad we<br />
did. Graduating this week, she has been at Clinton<br />
all 6 years of elementary school. The community at<br />
Clinton can’t be beat. Admin, teachers and parents<br />
are engaged in the emotional and academic growth<br />
of all children. My daughter is a good student, well<br />
behaved and performs well academically. I was<br />
worried she would get lost in the public school<br />
system since she is quiet and neither extreme. However,<br />
she has lots of support and encouragement to<br />
expand into involvement in student government, a<br />
love of art, music and theater and getting accepted<br />
into a competitive summer science program at a<br />

The Seth Boyden Demonstration School was<br />
established to meet the needs of a diverse student<br />
population reflecting the integrated communities<br />
of South Orange and Maplewood. Dedicated to a<br />
multiple intelligence approach to learning, (Howard<br />
Gardner’s theory of different learning styles), the<br />
faculty strive to find learning modes that work<br />
best for each individual child and to build on their<br />
strengths. The school serves as a district-wide<br />
resource for staff development. The school attracts<br />
similarly-minded families who appreciate the<br />
diversity. Seth Boyden has an excellent art and<br />
music program. And the fifth graders put on a spring<br />
musical each year. The PTA is very strong and active.<br />

My daughter went to this school last year for first<br />
grade and my son has been there for both Kindergarten/1st<br />
grade and really can’t say enough on<br />
how loving and compassionate these teachers have<br />
been to our children. They instill such great values<br />
for the love of learning to each and every single<br />
