STYLISH LIFE
BY: ERIC HIMEL | CELEBRITY STYLIST
P
arty, soirée, gathering, function, bash
whatever you call it, there will be lots of them
this holiday season. What to wear and how
to decipher what is appropriate for each one can be
daunting at best and embarrassing if you show up
under- or over- dressed for the occasion! Here is a
guide to make sure you are always PARTY PERFECT.
THE HOME GATHERING
Dress Code: “Festive Casual”
DO: Be chic but comfortable. You will probably be sitting
on a sofa at some point and you don’t want to look stiff.
DON’T: Overdress - it’s not a competition and you never
want to look better than your hostess.
THE OFFICE PARTY
Dress Code: “Holiday Cocktail”
DO: Be tasteful and stay away from Christmas colors like
red and green - work environments offer an array of personal
beliefs and you don’t want to offend anyone.
DON’T: Dress like a hussy (overly sexual) or go directly
from your work clothes to the party.
CHRISTMAS DINNER
Dress Code: “Holiday Chic”
DO: Straddle that line between well-turned out yet relaxed.
DON’T: Dress literally - like you are trying to invoke
Christmas itself.
J.CREW
NEW YEAR’S EVE
Dress Code: “Festive & Fancy”
DO: Turn up the glam factor and think outside the box.
DON’T: Wear a predictable LBD, a short, tight body-con
dress or anything ‘sexy’ that might translate to slutty. You
may want to get lucky but you don’t want to look like you do.
IT’S NOT “HOLIDAY PARTY” AS USUAL
