NOTES FROM THE CHAIR
A season of two halves is the best way to describe 2015. If our 1st, 2nd
and 3rd XI performed in the first half of the season as they did in the
second half of the season then all sides would have had a chance of
promotion. That said the 1st XI finished a respectful 4th in the league,
2nd XI finished 3rd in the league and the 3rd XI 5th in the league.
The 2nd XI season went to the last game of the season but they missed
promotion due to other results not going there way. The Club entered
a 4th XI in the league this year and thanks to their captain and club
stalwart Les Hall they managed to fulfil their fixtures and allowed
some promising youngsters to gain valuable league cricket experience.
Our first year in the Essex Sunday League proved to be a success and
the Club finished second to Gorsebrook. We look forward to playing
in the Premier League in 2016.
The clubs focus is on Colts Cricket and development of players at all
levels. We are committed to giving our colts and adult cricketers the
best coaching and committed to developing Gallows Corner to have
the best facilities and to making it the place to play cricket in the local
area.
We put in place a new head coach and together with his supporting
coaches they provide a high level of coaching which the players and
the Club are already seeing the benefits of. Hopefully this will transfer
into success at all levels in 2016.

The club is well positioned going into 2016 and there is an air of optimism
not seen at Gallows corner for some time. The efforts of the
committee, players and all associated with the club are creating a
unique bond between players and hopefully we will see this transfer
into better performances on the field in 2016.
A special thanks to the committee for all their help and support
throughout 2015.
I wish everyone good luck for the 2016 season.

Clubmark is a Sport England initiative that provides a ‘kitemark’ of
quality for sports clubs. Its purpose is to identify and acknowledge
those clubs that have shown that they are properly and efficiently
managed, that provide a safe environment for young players to
learn and enjoy their sport, and that have a high standard of equity
and ethics towards all members. Clubs that have gained Sport England
Clubmark status are therefore nationally recognised as being
run in a safe, effective and child-friendly manner.
GPRCC was one of the first clubs to receive clubmark accreditation
in 2004. Achieved re-accreditation in 2008 and 2014.

CODES OF CONDUCT
MEMBERS AND GUESTS*
All Members and Guests of Gidea Park & Romford CC will:
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context
of cricket.
Treat everyone equally and not discriminate on the grounds of age,
gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, parental
or marital status, religious belief, class or social background, sexual
preference or political belief.
Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination
if witnessed Display high standards of behaviour.
Promote the positive aspects of Cricket e.g. fair play.
Encourage all participants to learn the Laws and rules and play
within them, respecting the decisions of match officials.
Actively discourage unfair play, rule violations and arguing with
match officials.
Recognise good performance not just match results.
Place the well-being and safety of Young People above the development
of performance.

Ensure that activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience
and ability of the individual.
Respect Young People’s opinions when making decisions about their
participation in Cricket.
Not smoke, drink or use banned substances whilst actively working
with Young People in the Club.
Not provide Young People with alcohol when they are under the care
of the Club.
Follow ECB guidelines set out in the “Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for
Safeguarding Children’ and any other relevant guidelines issued.
Report any concerns in relation to a Young Person, following reporting
procedures laid down by the ECB
In addition to the above, all Club Officers and Appointed Volunteers
will:
Hold relevant qualifications and be covered by appropriate insurance
Always work in an open environment (i.e. avoid private or unobserved
situations and encourage an open environment)
Inform Players and Parents of the requirements of Cricket
Know and understand the ECB’s ‘Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for
Safeguarding Children’
*Members and Guests include all members and officers of the Cricket
Club and all guests of those members and officers, as well as all individuals
who watch / attend / participate / officiate in matches hosted
by the club in whatever capacity.

YOUNG PEOPLE
As members of Gidea Park & Romford CC young people are expected
to abide by the following junior code of conduct:
All members must play within the rules and respect officials and
their decisions.
All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants
regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions
or inform their coach or team manager if they are going to
be late Members must wear suitable kit for training and match sessions,
as agreed with the coach/team manager.
Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly.
Junior members are not allowed to smoke on club premises or whilst
representing the club at competitions.
Junior members are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any
kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club.

Observe the Conduct and Child Protection Policy
Consider well-being and safety before performance
Consider only activities appropriate to age, ability and experience
Avoid exerting undue influence over players to obtain personal benefit
or reward
Value enthusiasm and good conduct as well as ability
Develop appropriate working relationships with players, their
teachers, clubs and their families, based on mutual trust and respect
Promote the ‘Spirit of Cricket’
Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance
Players are asked to be fair and help everyone to enjoy the game.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Discuss the child’s needs and progress with the coach
Bring any relevant concerns to the attention of the coach or the Child
Protection Officer or another Panel member
Encourage your children to learn and observe the laws of cricket
Recognise and encourage fair play. In matches clap incoming batsmen
and applaud good performances of both sides
Help your children to recognise good performances, not just good
results
Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials. Support and help
team managers and appointed volunteers; avoid questioning or criticism
of their judgement in public
Encourage but never force your children to play
All adults are expected to act as good role models for the children

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club is committed to ensuring that all
young people who play cricket have a safe and positive experience.
The club has adopted the ECB ‘Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding
Children’ and any future versions of the policy.
You can find a full copy of the policy on the club website www.gprcc.
co.uk.
Policy Outline
All young people at Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club, regardless
of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, ability or disability
have the right:
1) To be protected
2) Enjoy their cricket in a safe environment
Adults working for GPRCC with young people will:
1) Adhere to the standards set out in this document
2) Provide a safe, positive and fun cricket experience for all
3) Will be educated in the best practice when working with
young people
4) Will be familiar with this document and have access to the
ECB welfare policy via the Youth Development officer.

2) Ensure any allegations or suspicions relating to young people
will be dealt with swift and appropriately.
If you have Child Protection concerns you should:
• Report any information or concerns to the club welfare officer
• Ensure that you have obtained as much information about
your concerns or an incident as possible
• Complete an Incident Reporting Form and submit to
County Welfare Officer (contact details can be found with
in the ‘safe hands’ policy and a link to the incident report
ing form can be found on the club’s website.)
• Ensure that any umpire reports or statements accompany
this information
• Contact the Police/Ambulance/Children’s Social care immediately
if any club is in danger or has been hurt at the
club and the report the matter to the County Welfare Officer
