Introduction
Cameras for Science and Industry
In addition to the field of classical machine vision, cameras
are also used in other fields, such as Astronomy, microscopy
and many other imaging applications. Depending on the industry
and application, special requirements for a camera
are decisive. Typical applications include the recording of different
wavelength ranges using multispectral cameras based
on prisms of the inspection of roll-fed material using line
scan cameras. Furthermore in high speed production, inspection
machinery, and applications in life sciences, outdoor
surveillance and aerospace our cameras are expected
to perform under the most demanding conditions. Besides
different specifications an important criterion is the sensor of
the camera, but also the resolution, interface, frame rate, dark
current, read out noise and much more is indispensable. We
are providing cameras with the best performance you can get
out of a sensor by using cutting-edge electronics. Making our
cameras very reliable, rugged and compact we offer the best
cameras in the market. Additionally to the standard cameras
which are used in the common fields with CCD and CMOS sensors,
Laser 2000‘s portfolio also offers low light level cameras
with outperforming Quantum efficiency like EMCCD, sCMOS,
SWIR, single-photon (SPAD), all-in-focus cameras, and cameras
with special vacuum design.
Line Scan Cameras
WAVE Series – InGaAs Prism based SWIR Line Scan Cameras
The Wave Series cameras are dual-band line scan cameras
capable of sensing Short Wave InfraRed (SWIR) light. The
cameras are based on Indium/Gallium/Arsenide (InGaAs)
sensor technology and JAI’s prism line scan technology, making
them capable of delivering dual-band imaging in the
SWIR light spectrum (900 nm - 1700 nm).
The new Wave Series camera brings dual-band imaging to the
SWIR light spectrum to provide lots of extra “hidden” vision
data. This capability can enhance current machine vision systems
with imaging beyond what is possible when imaging the
visible and/or the near infrared light spectrum. The Wave NIR
into various applications. Series can open up a range of new
applications in automated visual inspection.
Advantages
• Dual band line scan
• SWIR 900 nm - 1700 nm
• No cooling
• CL interface
• M52-mount
Thanks to prism-based simultaneous image acquisition, it’s
possible to precisely align images in two different spectral
bands even when objects are moving at high speeds.
Area Scan Cameras
Fusion Series – Dual-Sensor Prism based Area Scan Cameras
The Fusion Series uses dual-sensor prism technology to deliver
imaging solutions that are both innovative and costeffective.
Multi-spectral cameras perform both visible and near-infrared
inspection simultaneously, by splitting incoming light to
two separate imagers. This makes it possible to use a single
camera to simultaneously inspect both visible elements and
sub-surface defects or other information that is optimally detected
at NIR wavelengths.
Advantages
• Two-in-one camera
• Ease-of-use
• Exceptionally good HDR images
High Dynamic Range (HDR) cameras also split light to two
separate sensors, but in this case, the imagers are used to
provide two separate exposures, which are then fused together
in the camera or in post processing. In this way, details
in both bright and dark areas can be properly captured,
extending the camera’s dynamic range to nearly twice the
dynamic range of a standard CCD.
Special Cameras
Terahertz Imaging Cameras
The detectors are fabricated from GaAs high-mobility heterostructure
in the standard semiconductor cycle using conventional
optical lithography. The imaging sensor is manufactured
on a single wafer. That process ensures high
homogeneity and reproducibility of the plasmonic detector
parameters (pixel-to-pixel deviation responsivity is within
20-percent range). Each unit detector proved to have room
temperature responsivity up to 50 kV/W with read-out circuitry
and noise equivalent power 1 nW/√HZ in the frequency
range 10 GHz - 1 THz. The detection mechanism is based on
transformation of incident THz radiation into two-dimensional
electron system (2DES) plasma oscillation. Plasma wave is
then rectified on the inhomogeneity of 2DES electron density
in the defect region.
Advantages
• High homogeneity and reproducibility
• High sensitivity
• Fast image acquisition rate
• Extremely compact design
• USB feeding and programming
• Terasense Viewer ® Software
