University of Tsukuba, Japan
Hongxu Lu obtained his BSc and MSc
degrees from Ocean University of
China in 1998 and 2006,
respectively. He completed his PhD in
Materials Science and Engineering
(Biomaterials) in 2009 from the joint
PhD program of University of Tsukuba
and National Institute for Materials
Science of Japan (NIMS). From 2009
to 2012, he worked as a postdoc
researcher in the same lab of his PhD
study at NIMS under the supervision
of Prof. Guoping Chen.
medicine and investigation of
cell-biomaterials interactions. Dr. Lu
was awarded with the Young
Investigator Award from Japanese
Society for Regenerative Medicine
(Japan, 2012) and the Young Scientist
Award from International Symposium
of Materials on Regenerative
Medicine (Taiwan, 2010). He has
Stenzel. In 2015, Dr. Hongxu Lu was
awarded an ARC DECRA Research
Fellowship. His research focuses on the
development of nano drug carriers and
novel 2D and 3D cellular models for
the evaluation of nano drug carriers.
He is also interested in the
development of 3D scaffolds for tissue
engineering and regenerative
