CELEBRATION OF CAROLS
Award-winning Epiphoni Consort will
perform their ever-popular concert of
traditional carols, festive readings, close
harmony arrangements and audience
participation on Friday 9 December, this
year a stone's throw from Piccadilly
Circus, in the heart of West End.
Described by last year's promoter as
‘a winning formula’, and rapturously
received by a sell-out crowd, this event
is certain to be London's big choral
attraction of the year this festive season.
Conductor Tim Reader said: ‘2016
has been a great year for us – we've
appeared on BBC TV, performed at The
Barbican for Terry Pratchett's memorial,
and recorded our debut CD. We can't
Epiphoni Consort.
wait to top it off with a truly uplifting
selection of carols and readings,
designed to give everyone that special
Christmas feeling, and in one of
London's finest churches!'
A Grade 1 Listed building, St James’s
Church, Piccadilly dates from the 1680’s
and was designed by Christopher Wren
(architect of St Paul's Cathedral).
This year's programme features the
very special treat of Britten’s Ceremony
of Carols for women's chorus, soloists
and harp – a stunning and atmospheric
piece of music. Alongside arrangements
of many of the nation's favourite carols,
the programme features the music of
Howells, Panufnik, Gjeilo, Bednall,
Rathbone and many more. Wine will be
served in the interval.
To celebrate 20 years of the Tomb
Raider franchise and the world famous
Lara Croft, composer Nathan McCree,
who wrote the music for the first Tomb
Raider games, has created a 70 minute
McCree’s Tomb Raider Theme has
been re-used, arranged and adapted in
fans the unique chance to hear McCree’s
famous themes played by an orchestra
