PICNIC DAY
Fun and games top of the list
THE UNION PICNIC DAY AT GREATER TAREE CITY COUNCIL WAS AGAIN A SUCCESS WITH OVER 70 MEMBERS
TURNING UP FOR EARLY MORNING BBQ’S, BARE FOOT BOWLS, FINGER FOODS, LUNCH AND PRAWNS TO BE
ENJOYED BY ALL, AND TO END THE DAY A FEW GAMES OF POOL AND SOME PUNTING FOR THOSE INCLINED.
The picnic committee, led by
Merv Emerton and John Connell,
had organised approximately 20
mixed prizes from hats, pens, socks
and shirts for the main event “bowls”.
As always, the bare foot bowls saw
some hard fought matches, with old
rivalries being reignited, and new
ones lit. This was just the start of
the laughs and sledging, with Adam
Jennens Master of Ceremonies for the
presentations for the eventual winners
and losers, making sure the enjoyment
of the day rolled on.
After some light nibbles, lunch, and a
few beverages, it was time to recognise
and celebrate the careers of long time
members Michael Hutchison (37 years)
and Neville Towers (39 years) and wish
them all the best for their retirement.
Also acknowledged was Ian Minett (36
years). Ian has not yet retired however
has started to use his long service leave
entitlements and will retire in June 2017.

held by GTCC members; however

the members of the new Mid-Coast
Council.
