LETTER From the CHAIRMAN
Welcome
to the Association
of Yacht Support Services
(AYSS).
After 12 years being a member of the AYSS, this is my
second time as Chairman and it is with great honour I write
this in a year where we will celebrate the 25th anniversary
of the Association. The AYSS is today a strong and unique
partner to the Super Yacht Industry and we look forward to
many more years to come, together with you, as Captain,
as well as with your Crew.
Today the AYSS have 72 members, 5 associated members
and belong to 2 associations. The members are widely
spread out over the Globe, both in well-known areas as
well as in remote areas. We are constantly aiming at getting
new members and this way link the world together within
the Super Yacht Industry in order to have an AYSS member
serving you in whichever Port you may visit in the future.
For those of you who are not aware, the AYSS is based on
a Code of Conduct, which you will find in the back of our
Handbook and each member is strictly bound to operate
under these guidelines. All members of the AYSS has
diligently been evaluated and picked out before entering
the association and one of our key aims is to provide you
and your Crew with the best support and service in a highly
professional manner.
Within the AYSS, I do not only see a great deal of motivation
and dedication to the Super Yacht profession, but also a
valuable amount of knowledge and experience, which you
can benefit from. The AYSS is a unified front to our clients
with great skills and assurance of commitment to service
within the industry and I highly recommend you to contact
an AYSS agent before going to or underway to whichever
Port/Area in the world.
Obviously, with the number of members within the AYSS,
we have access to and are gathering a lot of news and
information, which is a vital part while cruising. By using
an AYSS member, you will not only have an excellent support
to the boat and the Crew, but also be able to gain from
this information making the trip even more enjoyable for
the Owners, Guests and Charter clients.
As Chairman of the AYSS in 2015, I wish you a very
successful year and safe cruising.
If you have any questions or concerns you wish to raise,
please do not hesitate to contact me.
Associated Yacht Services, a division of Associated
Steamship Agents, S.A., was founded on the Isthmus
of Panama in 1889, when Captain William Andrews
opened a Steamship Agency in Colon City. Today the
Steamship Agency can arrange your transit from our
office in Balbao on the Pacific Side right through to the
Atlantic. Our team of experts work 24/7 responding
to the needs of our clients from around the world
visiting the Panama Canal and ports in the Republic
of Panama. In addition to representing many yacht
and ship owners, we are also the agents for Lloyd’s of
London at the Canal and undertake hull and machinery
surveys on behalf of underwriters from Europe, the
United States and the Far East. The Panama Canal is
an amazing engineering feat running for 45 nautical
miles. Three sets of locks operate as hydraulic
elevators which raise vessels at one end of the Canal
85 feet above seawater to the level of Gatun Lake, then
down at the other end. We look forward to your visit.
Finland can best be described as the country in
Europe that is at the roof of the world. It stretches
from the Baltic Sea north to the Arctic Ocean and
the Barents Sea and borders Russia to the east
and Norway to the west. Helsinki, the modern and
thriving capital of Finland, is at the southern end of
the country, situated on the Gulf of Finland. It has a
population of more than half a million people.
For the cruising yacht, Helsinki is the ideal starting
point for cruising through the Finnish lakes, to
St Petersburg and to Tallin in Estonia. There are
over 60,000 lakes in Finland many of which can be
accessed through the Saiama Canal. This is an
unforgettable cruise and is well worth investigating
on behalf of charterers and owners who may be
looking for that something different. Other interesting
destination since 1882. With its wonderful capital city
Oslo and the spectacular fjords, it is one of the most
The Baltic.
Yachting in Norwegian waters is the ultimate
yachting experience as Mother Nature has been
generous to the Norwegian people. The fjords
are many and 67,000 islands and skerries make it
possible to cruise in calm waters. To visit Norway by
yacht, combined with shore excursions, is probably
the best way to see our beautiful country.
The yachts sail all the way into the fjords, and
The Lighthouse Consultancy
Region Indonesia
The Lighthouse Consultancy’s dedicated team has
been planning, supporting and leading cruises across
Indonesia for over a decade. The country’s 17,000+
islands offer visiting yachts incredible scenic and
cultural adventures, over a cruising area similar
in size to mainland USA. With two main cruising
grounds, the Komodo National Park and the Raja
Ampat Islands, and four or five other smaller cruising
grounds, multiple cruises or multiple visits are
almost a necessity to really experience all Indonesia
has to offer.
The Lighthouse Consultancy leads yacht Captains and
Management through the document procurement
process, itinerary planning, guides the cruises
and also coordinates the provisioning of vessels
throughout the archipelago. The team also offers
private jet and helicopter services, essentially
providing 360° support to visiting superyachts.
Indonesia can seem complicated, and some cruising
grounds are remote, but the experience of the
Lighthouse team will help ensure that the focus
of the Captain and crew on any visiting yacht, is not
on the logistical challenges, but rather on guest
experience and their enjoyment of the wonders
of the country.
Port Information
Best infrastructure is at the Port of Benoa,
the country service the different cruising
Kaleva Yachting Services LTD
Region Vanuatu
At Kaleva Yachting Service, our goal is to help
Vanuatu develop gracefully. We are Yacht Crew, Yacht
Agents and Marine Engineers. Sam and Jess Bell
started Kaleva Yachting Service a few years ago after
deciding to be land based for a time and falling in love
with Vanuatu.
Vanuatu continues to be a very fruitful yachting
destination. Given her intact diverse culture, land
diving, accessible active volcanoes, bush walks,
waterfalls, diving and best of all very lovely local
people, Vanuatu is a favorite amongst her
yachting visitors.
Vanuatu’s rugged, simple charm can also be our
challenge. As former yacht crew, we understand the
level of service required for Superyachts. Superyacht
standard exceeds any resort in Vanuatu. To get you
what you need, on time, to the quality you require is
where we come in. Kaleva, a name originating from
Tuvalu, means both the fastest canoe in the fleet and
the one who goes the extra mile. We work as hard as
you do to fulfil every request, every time.
