T
he start of the year always seems to be
the time we're told to reinvent ourselves.
New Year, New You, all that sort of thing.
Well what if I like me as I am ? What
if I quite enjoy my bad habits ? What if I like
eating junk food and not doing any exercise ?
Maybe the "old me" read a bit about the potential
"New me" and thought she sounded a bit boring.
My suggestion to all of my readers who find
themselves being badgered by a lifestyle guru to
make some changes is to tell them to mind their
own business!
Having over half a dozen grandchildren (and
being a great aunt to another four) you won't
be surprised to hear that Christmas can be a
bit hectic for me. It can be quite tiring to be on
the receiving end of a fifteen minute lecture on
the merits of a Star Wars space ship made from
734 plastic bricks. Over the years I've become an
expert at feigning fascination. Wine always helps.
The girls are a bit more fun, especially the
smallest ones as you can put ridiculous amounts
of make up on them when their mother's not
looking and the kids absolutely love every minute!
The parents aren't always best pleased, but I just

inception over 36 years ago,
Bill Kenwright’s ‘amazing’,

‘brilliant’ production has now
sold an estimated 20 million
tickets.
This vibrant and exciting
retelling of the biblical story
about Joseph, and the coat
of many colours sings out
to young and old alike with a
score crammed wall to wall
with hits, including Jacob and
Sons, Close Every Door and
Any Dream Will Do.

Having all that fun does wear
you out a bit though so by the
time you're reading this piece I
shall be toasting the new year
on a beach in the Canary Islands
with a cold glass of wine. I think
it's only fair that I escape a little bit of the bleak
midwinter and recharge my batteries ahead of
the Spring!
