High tech and beauty don't
seem obvious bedfellows
but things are changing fast
in the beauty industry, and
technology is offering us
amazing new benefits. Women
are saying they don't want
surgery but they do want
to hold back the clock -
and it seems the men in
white coats are listening
to us. New innovations
are offering home-based
treatments with results
that could previously
only be achieved through
expensive, and often
painful, therapies. And
it couldn't be happening
at a better time. Women
of fifty, sixty and beyond want
to look youthful, attractive and
sexy. If science can give us
that, bring it on!
About nine months ago I
started hearing about a brandnew
skincare device that was
going to revolutionise the
skincare and beauty industry.
I have always believed that
once you’ve got a wrinkle the
only way to get rid of it is
with a very sharp knife - but I
couldn't ignore the hype that
was happening in the US. So
when it finally arrived here in
September I decided to test it
out. Just to prove that it really
didn’t work. In the interest of
research I used it on just one
side of my face. After six weeks
of a few minutes each day I saw
a dramatic improvement. In
fact it was so noticeable, I had
to start doing my entire face
before people started thinking
I’d had a stroke!
You might have seen some
little handheld 'wands' that use
sonic waves to provide a deep
cleanse. These can be great if
you suffer from blackheads or
breakouts and I recommend
them for certain skin conditions
- the Clarisonics range are
particularly well regarded. But
this new device from Arbonne
is completely different. It
uses ultrasound technology
to push your creams and
potions deeper into the skin
and ensure that the magical
ingredients can do their work
more efficiently. (Obviously, you
need skincare which actually
does something). The effects
are quite amazing.
Many people report an
immediate effect but the
effects are most dramatic over
a period of time. Some people
notice that fine lines can be
eliminated within just a few
uses. Deeper wrinkles appear
reduced and skin more refined
as you continue to use it. It's
hard to believe I know, but I've
seen it with my own eyes. And
around my own eyes too! My
husband was so impressed
with the results that he started
sneakily using it himself. One
woman watched her 75 year
old mother having a trial and
exclaimed 'I can see your face
getting smoother straight
away!' (She and her mother
bought one to share, which I
thought was rather lovely.)
Now, miracles don’t come
cheap but it is significantly less
than a course of facials, and
you get to use it forever. So far
I’ve not found anything similar
so it seems Arbonne have got
a head start but I fully expect
to see this market grow
quickly.
Of course I have added
this device to my beauty
range so others can get
their hands on it too
and you might think 'she
would say it's great, she
just wants to sell it'. In
fact it's the other way
round. I offer it because
I’m convinced it really
makes a difference. But
don't just take my word for it.
