TRASH AND RECYCLE REMINDER 

Don’t forget trash days are Mondays and Thursdays. 

Recycling is picked up in the red bins on Mondays. They 

come early, so be sure you put out your trash the night 

before or early in the morning. 

STREET AMBASSADORS NEEDED 

We are looking for volunteers! If you are interested in being a “Street 

Ambassador,” please let us know at mgmt@kpmmanagement.com. Your duties 

will include recruiting your neighbors to attend various neighborhood events 

and activities, as well as being the “go-to” for any questions and concerns your 

neighbors may have.

We have to pay every month for your street light whether it 

is working or not. If you notice yours is out go to http://cnp. 

centerpointenergy.com/outage. You will need the pole number. 

Please help us to keep the lights on and not waste money. 

ANNUAL ASSESSMENTS 

Here is the schedule for the collection of the Association’s 

Assessments: 

November 30 th : Initial invoices are mailed out by the end of 

November. Please make sure the management company has your 

correct mailing address. 

January 1 st : The Assessment is due on January 1 st every year. 

January 31 st : Unpaid Assessments become delinquent. 

February 1 st : Late fees and interest begin and Late Notices are 

mailed out for all delinquent accounts. 

March 1 st : A Warning Letter is mailed out on all delinquent accounts. 

April 1 st : A Final Notice is mailed (via certified mail) on all delinquent 

accounts. There is a $35 charge to the delinquent account at this 

time. 

May 1 st : If payment has not been received or a payment plan has 

not been entered, delinquent accounts are sent to the Attorney at 

this time. The Attorney can file a lien and all legal fees will be billed 

back to the delinquent account. 

PAYMENT OPTIONS: 

1. If you are unable to make payment in full, please contact KPM 

Management so that you can make payment arrangements. You 

will still pay interest on the unpaid balance, but you will not be sent 

to the attorney. 

2. Statements will be mailed the first of every month for accounts 

making payments. 

3. Many homeowners have started making monthly pre-payments 

ahead of time, so that when the assessment becomes due they are 

already paid.

CHECK OR MONEY ORDER: Cash is not accepted. Please make 

payment with check or money order made payable to your 

community.

GARDENING TIPS FOR JANUARY 

• Birds: Provide food and fresh water. More birds die from lack of 

water than from lack of food. 

• Cacti: Semi-dormant now. Reduce watering. 

• Camellias: Plants may be moved. Pick up and discard fallen 

blooms. 

• Cultivation: Changes in design may now be made, new beds 

dug and old ones rebuilt. Correct defects in drainage. Incorporate 

gypsum into heavy soils: repeat in three weeks. Dig granite dust, 

rock phosphate and quantities of organic matter into soil. Allow 

time for settling before planting.

Katy Vocal Express, the newest prospective Sweet Adelines Chorus has arrived in the 

Katy area. The name honors the history of the Katy railroad while looking forward to

• BOOK DISCUSSION CLUBS - The Library hosts book clubs that 

meet monthly. The Evening Book Club normally meets on the 

second Monday of the month at 7 PM. The Afternoon Book Club 

meets on the second Thursday of the month at 1 PM. 

• JUST DESSERTS MYSTERY BOOK CLUB - Meetings held the third 

Wednesday of the month at 2 PM. You are encouraged to bring

•WEDNESDAY WONDERS - Let imaginations soar as you explore the

Tickets are available 15 minutes before the program begins. 

• INFANT STORYTIME - This program will meet each Tuesday 

morning at 10:15 AM and 11:15 AM. This is an interactive program 

for children, ages 0 to 12 months and their caregivers. Each session 

will last about 20 minutes, featuring nursery rhymes, songs and 

finger plays. 

• STORYTIME - Storytime for preschool-aged children is held 

each Wednesday at 10:15 AM. Stories, fingerplays and songs are 

featured. This is ideal for children ages 3 to 5, but all children and 

their caregivers are welcome. 

• PRESCHOOL EXPLORERS - Is your preschooler ready to 

explore the world? Children ages 2 ½ to 5 are invited to come on 

Wednesdays at 11:15 AM as we learn about the world. There will 

be plenty of stations for science and sensory exploration. 

• TOTALLY TODDLER STORYTIME - Toddlers, ages 18 to 36 months, 

are invited to participate in our Totally Toddler Storytime, which

Did you know there is a support group for the Gifted and Talented 

Program in KISD? The Katy Parents of Gifted and Talented is an 

advocacy organization dedicated to promoting quality educational

of the organization is to promote community awareness of the 

unique social, emotional and intellectual needs of gifted and 

talented students and to support the development of appropriate 

educational services to meet these needs. To function successfully 

as an advocacy organization, KPGT needs membership and 

volunteer support! Funded by membership dues, KPGT publishes 

a quarterly newsletter, “Connections” and is now on the web! 

KPGT advocates for the needs of our GT students by serving on 

district committees, panels at state GT conferences, the Parent 

Advisory Board and keeping abreast of legislative issues. KPGT

DECIBELLES - A BARBERSHOP CHORUS 

LET US ENTERTAIN YOU! We are the DECIBELLES (a Barbershop 

Chorus) performing around the Houston area and nearby towns. 

We prepare two shows each year complete with costumes, 

narratives and choreography. Our regular show this year features 

songs from 1900 through the current year. At Christmas, we feature 

old favorites, but always prepare a new fun tune just for laughs. 

Brighten your meeting, gathering or any type get-together with a 

half hour of four-part harmonies and cheerful narratives. You will 

have as much fun as we do preparing our show. Celebrating our 

40 th anniversary in 2016.

KATY VOCAL EXPRESS 

Katy Vocal Express, the newest prospective Sweet Adelines Chorus 

has arrived in the Katy area. The name honors the history of the 

Katy railroad while looking forward to the barbershop harmony 

that is now being made in Katy. Ladies from the Katy/West Houston 

area are invited to attend chorus rehearsal any Thursday evening,

CIVIL AIR PATROL - THUNDERBIRD SQUADRON 

The Civil Air Patrol Cadet program membership is open to boys and girls from age 

12 as well as adults. Programs offered to cadets are aerospace education, physical 

fitness, character building and limited emergency services. Seniors receive training 

in leadership, safety and emergency services – air and ground. As an auxiliary of the 

U.S. Air Force, this training enables the performance of search and rescue missions 

and disaster relief in times of crisis. The unit meets every Tuesday night from 6:45

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner. 

It’s likely that at least one person will ask 

you what your resolutions are for the year 

ahead. Whether you like to make them or not, 

research has found that people who make 

resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain 

their goals than people who don’t explicitly 

make resolutions. Yet as you know, it’s not 

so easy to keep your resolve as life returns 

to normal and your old habits of mind and 

action start testing your resolve and pulling 

you away from the new ones you resolved to 

create. Change is difficult, yet as hard as it is, 

everyone has the ability to make and keep 

meaningful changes in their life, regardless 

of their age, or how well worn their habitual 

ways of engaging in the world. 

Indeed there’s a science to success when it 

comes to achieving goals and making life 

changes - whether on January 1 st or any 

other time of year. Below are 7 strategies 

to help you make the changes you want in 

the year ahead - including making the right 

resolutions to begin with. I hope you will 

read it, but more so, I hope you will apply 

them so that 2017 will truly be the best year
