iQ advice The team at Signpost 2 Grow, the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP’s free business signposting service, has reviewed just some of the grants currently on offer to local businesses. Signpost 2 Grants Offering grants of between £2,000 and £20,000, Signpost 2 Grants helps businesses looking to invest in their growth. Signpost 2 Grants can cover a wide range of purchases, from machinery and refurbishment costs through to new websites and CRM systems. The grants can cover up to 20% of the total project cost and the project should have a positive impact on the growth of the business – whether that be by the creation of new jobs, securing new sales, or increasing your profits. Innovation Bridge Innovation Bridge is a gateway to university expertise for SMEs who have not yet assessed Higher Education Innovation Funding. It can provide support for growth and innovation in these businesses by providing finance and longterm collaboration opportunities. There are three key steps to the process. The first is a triage interview to assess your business’ needs, the second is up to 20 hours of support to develop an innovation action plan in partnership with a university partner. The final stage is the opportunity to access capital and revenue grant funding of between £1,000 and £15,000, which can be used to cover up to 30% of the total innovation project costs. Better Off in Business Delivered by the Prince’s Trust, Better Off in Business provides young people aged between 18 and 30 who are unemployed and have a viable business idea, with the support they need to set up a business. You may think that grant funding is a thing of the past, but you’d be wrong… If you are looking to grow your business, and invest in new capital purchases, then there could be a grant available to help Business Energy Efficiency (BEE) Local businesses can benefit from a free Energy Efficiency Audit and Report carried out by experienced professionals, and access to grant funding to implement any of the suggested energy savings found. Grants of up to £20,000 are available and can cover up to 25% of the total project cost. Knowledge Transfer Partnership & KEEP+ Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (known as KTPs) and KEEP+ are part-funded initiatives to help businesses connect with the skills, expertise and specialist knowledge they need to grow, thanks to Anglia Ruskin University and partners. The scheme brings businesses together with qualified, high-calibre graduates and academics to increase business productivity, competitiveness and profitability. Grant funding is available to fund up to 67% of the partnership costs, with additional potential funding also available for capital purchases. Top Tip Remember - with all grants it is vital to get a signed agreement in place before you spend any money. It is almost impossible to secure grant funding after you have made a purchase!
