Pfitzner Performance Gearboxes has developed a range of gear sets for vehicles generically<br />
known as Supercars. The philosophy behind this programme is to provide owners with an<br />
opportunity to ensure that performance is not compromised or restricted by the car’s transmission.<br />
One of the most iconic brands in the Supercar arena is <strong>Lambo</strong>rghini, with the company’s most<br />
popular and recognisable model, the Gallardo featuring a four-wheel-drive transaxle and front<br />
final-drive transmission system. This same configuration also appears in the Audi R8, the two cars<br />
sharing many of the same major components.<br />
Research has found that the factory-fitted 6-speed H-pattern and electronic-shift gearboxes are<br />
not strong enough to cope with significantly increased horsepower and torque. In response, PPG<br />
has created a high performance, 6-speed sequential system that combines strength and durability<br />
with effortless and positive activation. Its unique helical dog-tooth profile also ensures greater<br />
efficiency and develops less noise than other gearboxes fitted with straight-cut gears.<br />

When design defines function<br />
Design is where the story begins. Without it, PPG gear sets would not perform or last like they do.<br />
With every product it manufactures, PPG aims to make shifting as effortless and as positive as<br />
possible: from the moment the driver touches the shift-lever, to the delivery of power right through<br />
the transmission. This allows gear changes to be executed more accurately and quickly and therefore<br />
achieve a minimal drop in RPM, more continuous acceleration, a balanced chassis and consequently,<br />
increased performance.<br />
PPG offers a motorsport-proven high performance, 6-speed sequential system upgrade for four-wheeldrive<br />
transaxle and front final-drive transmission systems, manufactured by Italian firm Graziano.<br />
With a speed of operation usually only found in F1-type applications, PPG’s sequential system<br />
optimizes the shift phase to allow the return of power through the transmission as soon as the dog is<br />
pre-engaged. This function can only take place by using the most advanced of measurement sensors<br />
available: the GILL Blade 360º rotary position sensor.<br />
