Nissan GT-R R35 6-speed, helical-syncro gear system
Since its introduction in 2007, the Nissan GT-R R35 has become a prime target for tuners and
race teams. Even with its standard 3.8-litre V6, twin-turbo engine developing nearly 500hp
(360kw) and 450lbft (570Nm) torque, the potential to increase this already substantial amount of
power has proved irresistible to many engineers and enthusiasts.
This has seen figures of over 2000 horsepower reached. This significant boost in output has
raised stress levels on the transmission that has often resulted in gearboxes failing to operate
correctly or, in some cases, being completely destroyed.
The Pfitzner Performance Gearboxes 6-speed optimized, helix angle, helical-syncro gear set is
designed to cope with the additional loadings generated by these sometimes brutal increases in
power. Consequently, the PPG upgrade for gearbox, transfer and reduction gears has become

When design defines function
Design is where the story begins. Without it, PPG gear sets would not perform or last like they do.
With every product it manufactures, PPG aims to make shifting as effortless and as positive as
possible: from the moment the driver touches the shift-lever, to the delivery of power right through
the transmission. This allows gear changes to be executed more accurately and quickly and
therefore achieve a minimal drop in RPM, more continuous acceleration, a balanced chassis and
consequently, increased performance.
The PPG kit has been specifically designed to directly replace the original Nissan gears and fits
accurately inside the standard casings. Comprising the same ratios as the OE version, the PPG
upgrade is compatible with the car’s existing automatic DSG system and ECU. Consequently,
there is no need to re-map the software or modify gear-change mechanisms or linkages, which
means that installation is a straightforward, like-for-like exchange operation.
