PUBLIC PARTICIPATION AND FEEDBACK<br />

Mohokare Municipality engages with the public all through the year on IDP/ Budget, by laws and various<br />

programmes and projects. The municipality has 6 wards and 5 ward committees that are functional.<br />

The municipality publishes its public meeting in local newspapers and also utilizes the municipal<br />

website, notices and loud hailing to inform the community on public meetings to broaden its public<br />

participation.<br />

* Ward constituency meetings take place quarterly.<br />

* Each of the six wards have to hold consultation meetings on a number of issues and constantly<br />

engage communities on the Integrated Development Plan objectives and progress.<br />

* Ward constituency meetings are held quarterly and the reports of the sitting are presented to<br />

Council in the scheduled ordinary council meetings.<br />

STAKEHOLDER FORUM<br />

The stakeholder forum chaired by the Mayor, constituted by all government departments offering<br />

services in the jurisdiction of Mohokare Local Municipality, this stakeholder forum holds monthly<br />

regular meetings and are well attended.<br />

INTERFAITH FORUM<br />

The forum meets once a quarter, partnership and engagement help council and faith groups better<br />

achieve their policy, service delivery and social action goals, as well as enhance participatory and representative<br />

democracy.<br />

The Interfaith Forum was established in 2013, and it has been meeting once quarterly.<br />

The forum is functional, and its role is solely to strengthen public participation.<br />

The main aim of the forum is to deal with some social challenges such as crime, further build endearing<br />

relations between the two countries.<br />

Crossborder Crime Prevention Forum<br />

Smithfield Workers<br />

South African and Lesotho representatives meet once in every two months in order to discuss issues<br />

and ways of minimizing crime pertaining cross border since the Zastron town shares a border line with<br />

Lesotho.<br />
