Worship From the Heart<br />
So they come to you as people do, they sit<br />
before you as My people, and they hear your<br />
words, but they do not do them; for with their<br />
mouth they show much love, but their hearts<br />
pursue their own ga<strong>in</strong> (Ezek. 33:31).<br />
The Lord also expressed the same pr<strong>in</strong>ciple<br />
through the prophet Isaiah.<br />
Inasmuch as these people draw near with<br />
their mouths And honor Me with their lips,<br />
But have removed their hearts far from Me,<br />
And their fear toward Me is taught by the<br />
commandment of men (Is. 29:13).<br />
Worshipp<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Church<br />
For many of us, when we hear of worship we<br />
th<strong>in</strong>k about the "song service" <strong>in</strong> our churches.<br />
This is an important part of our worship life, but<br />
always remember it is only a part. You can<br />
worship when there are no other people around<br />
you. And, of course, you can certa<strong>in</strong>ly worship<br />
even if there isn't music!<br />
That is not to say corporate worship is<br />
unscriptural. The Psalms say:<br />
Praise the Lord! I will praise the Lord<br />
with my whole heart, In the assembly of the<br />
upright and <strong>in</strong> the congregation (Ps. 111:1).<br />
One of the greatest struggles today <strong>in</strong><br />
corporate worship is that people have become an<br />
audience. Sadly, the worship <strong>in</strong> many churches<br />
on Sunday morn<strong>in</strong>g is a s<strong>in</strong>g-and-sit event,<br />
which divides the church <strong>in</strong>to performers and<br />
spectators. There is a great need <strong>in</strong> churches<br />
today to encourage the k<strong>in</strong>d of worship which<br />
