Director's Annual Report 2016-1

Introduction
In 2008, Niagara Catholic embarked on a multi-year strategic planning process to create a document that would set and
guide the direction of the Niagara Catholic District School Board throughout the coming decade.
In June 2010, the Niagara Catholic Vision 2020 Strategic Plan was approved by the Board. Annually, through an extensive
consultation process, The Board of Trustees and Senior Administrative Council utilize the Mission, Vision and Values
approved in the Vision 2020 Strategic Plan to create a specific set of System Priorities for each school year. The System
Priorities are reviewed in January of each school year to ensure the Board is on target to meet its goals. At the end of each
academic year, Senior Administrative Council and Board staff review and analyze data and present an achievement report
to the Board. Copies of the annual Achievement Report are provided to all Niagara Catholic administrators, staff, Catholic
school councils, Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), Niagara Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (NCPIC),
Bishop Bergie, parish priests, MPs, MPPs and Mayors of all municipalities in the Niagara Region.
Director's Message
As Director of Education of Niagara Catholic, I am extremely proud to present the 2016 Director's Annual Report. This
report provides an overview of the many innovative initiatives, Catholic programs, services and supports, created and
delivered by our talented and dedicated Catholic administrators and staff to all our students.
The 2016 Director's Annual Report confirms that Niagara Catholic is in compliance with the Ministry of Education's core
priorities of achieving excellence, ensuring equity, promoting well-being and enhancing public confidence. The Board's
Vision 2020 Strategic Plan, Board-approved Annual System Priorities, the Board Improvement Plan for Student
Achievement and our School Improvement Plans for Student Achievement have all been aligned to achieve Ministry and
Board priorities.
The creative, focused and inclusive events throughout 2016 continued to shape the present and future of Niagara Catholic,
and Catholic education in Niagara.
Our Catholic faith permeates all programs, services and supports for students and staff throughout Niagara Catholic.
Niagara Catholic is fortunate to have the strong support of, and to work in partnership with, the Diocese of St. Catharines.
Our Faith Formation Program is supported by our Chaplaincy team, our Faith Ambassadors and our Faith Formation teams.
We are proud of the achievements highlighted in this 2016 Director's Annual Report, as we continue to nurture the souls
and build the minds of our most precious gifts, our students.
