FEBRUARY
Today's Scripture
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about
your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more
important than clothes? …. So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry
about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Matthew 6:25, 34
QUIT THE WORRY
Any time you take God out of the center of your life and put anything else
there, no matter how good it is, you re going to worry. If you re worrying about
tomorrow, you can t enjoy today. You miss today s blessings. It s OK to plan for
tomorrow, but you have to live for today. Also, when you re always worried
about tomorrow, the future gets overwhelming. But God will give you the
grace and strength you need when you get there. Right now, you only need
enough power for today.
Our gracious God does promise blessing upon blessing. Each new day is a new
day for the Lord to provide for His children. We have to admit that our loving
Lord does just that. Our heavenly Father gives us all that we need and even
more. David the psalmist said; "I was young and now I am old, yet I have never
seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always
generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed" (Psalm 37:25-26).
Still lled with worry? Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares
about you. 1 Peter 5:7. God values you even more than the rest of His creation.
Birds, who don t labor at all, have adequate food to eat. Even owers, which
only live for a short time, have beautiful "clothing." If God provides for them,
doesn t it stand to reason that He will care for you, since you are "much more"
valuable?
Worry represents a failure to trust in God as our Father. The moment you
worry, it's an indirect way of saying you don't trust God can provide for you.
Children don t worry about where their food or clothing or shelter is going to
come from. They just trust their parents. You need to trust God in the same
way. You aren t in control, but you can place your trust in Someone who is. You
don t know the future. But you can place your trust in Someone who does. And
He is God.
Prayer
For The Day
Thank you God for being
my great provider and my
only dependable God.
Forgive me for the many
days, months and years
of worries. I will put my
trust in you and depend
on you for the rest of my
life in the mighty name
of Jesus! Amen.
