Harvard Medical School reported a detailed review of a study
conducted by two scientists from University College in London.
The two scientists tracked 18 participants for about 11.3 years to
study their walking habits. At the end of the study in 2003, the
scientists found that walking reduced the risk of cardiovascular
events by 31%. Not all participants walked fast or walked long
distances. Health improvements were seen in participants that
walked only 5 1/2 minutes per day at 2 miles per hour.
