Mayo County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on them <strong>by</strong><br />
Section 46 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961), as inserted<br />
<strong>by</strong> Section 33 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 (No. 7 of 1994), Section<br />
9 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No. 44 of 2004), and in accordance<br />
with Circulars RSD 1/2014 of 15th October 2014 & RW 8/2015 of<br />
21st April 2015, and having consulted with the Commissioner of An<br />
Garda Síochána, here<strong>by</strong> makes the following Bye-Laws in respect of<br />
the area comprising the administrative area of the County of Mayo.<br />
1. These Bye-Laws may be cited as the Mayo County Council Special<br />
Speed Limit Bye-Laws 2016 [Housing Estates]<br />
2. These Bye-Laws shall commence on the 1st February <strong>2017</strong><br />
3. In these Bye-Laws:<br />
“the Act of 1961” means the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961);<br />
“the Act of 1993” means the Roads Act, 1993 (No. 14 of 1993);<br />
“the Act of 1994” means the Road Traffic Act, 1994 (No. 7 of 1994);<br />
“the Act of 2004” means the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No. 44 of 2004);<br />
“distance” means distance measured along the centre line of the road;<br />
“national road” has the meaning assigned to it <strong>by</strong> the Act of 1993;<br />
“road” means a public road.<br />
4. These Speed Limits override previous default/current speed limits<br />
in the Housing Estates set out on the Schedules hereto.<br />
Thirty kilometres per hour shall be the speed limit for mechanically<br />
propelled vehicles on the roads specified in these Bye-Laws.<br />
Roads in Housing Estates in the Municipal District of West Mayo<br />
on which a speed limit of 30km/h is prescribed.<br />

reasonable), appeal to the High Court against the making of the Order<br />
to which this notice relates.<br />
In the absence of an appeal to the High Court under Section 64(4)(a)<br />
of the Act, the Order will come into operation on 18 February <strong>2017</strong>.<br />
