SPECIAL SPEED LIMIT BYE-LAWS 2016 

(Housing Estates)

Mayo County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on them by 

Section 46 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961), as inserted 

by Section 33 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 (No. 7 of 1994), Section 

9 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No. 44 of 2004), and in accordance 

with Circulars RSD 1/2014 of 15th October 2014 & RW 8/2015 of 

21st April 2015, and having consulted with the Commissioner of An 

Garda Síochána, hereby makes the following Bye-Laws in respect of 

the area comprising the administrative area of the County of Mayo. 

1. These Bye-Laws may be cited as the Mayo County Council Special 

Speed Limit Bye-Laws 2016 [Housing Estates] 

2. These Bye-Laws shall commence on the 1st February 2017 

3. In these Bye-Laws: 

“the Act of 1961” means the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961); 

“the Act of 1993” means the Roads Act, 1993 (No. 14 of 1993); 



“distance” means distance measured along the centre line of the road; 

“national road” has the meaning assigned to it by the Act of 1993; 

“road” means a public road. 

4. These Speed Limits override previous default/current speed limits 

in the Housing Estates set out on the Schedules hereto. 

Thirty kilometres per hour shall be the speed limit for mechanically 

propelled vehicles on the roads specified in these Bye-Laws.

on which a speed limit of 30km/h is prescribed.

THE PENSIONS ACT 1990, AS AMENDED (THE “ACT”) 

AND IRISH FRESH MEAT EXPORTERS’ SOCIETY LIMITED 

RETIREMENT BENEFITS PLAN (PB 176041) (THE “SCHEME”) 

Pursuant to its ppwer under Section 64(1) of the Act, the Pensions 

Authority has by Order (the “Order”) under seal dated 25 January 

2017: 

1. appointed Mr. Anthony Hussey of Hussey Fraser Solicitors 

with an address of 17-19 Northumberland Road, Dublin 4 

(hereinafter referred to as the “New Trustee”) as trustee of the 

Scheme in substitution of the existing trustee, namely Irish 

Fresh Meat Exporters’ Society Limited; 

2. vested, subject where necessary to transfer in the books of any 

bank, corporation or Company, the assets of the Scheme in the 

New Trustee; and 

3. provided that reasonable payments may, be made from the 

resources of the Scheme to the New Trustee in respect of fees, 

expenses or other matters reasonably incurred relating to their 

duties as trustee. 

Pursuant to Section 64(4)(a) of the Act, a person having an interest 

may, within 21 days after the publication of this notice (or such 

longer period as the court may fix, being a period that, having regard 

to the circumstances of any particular case, the court considers to be 

reasonable), appeal to the High Court against the making of the Order 

to which this notice relates. 

In the absence of an appeal to the High Court under Section 64(4)(a) 

of the Act, the Order will come into operation on 18 February 2017.
