how to be an ally and <strong>of</strong>fer support<br />

at the school level for staff,<br />

students, and families. This session<br />

is for JCPS LGBTQ Support<br />

understanding <strong>of</strong> and receive<br />

resources pertaining to<br />

transgender individuals and<br />

communities. Participants will<br />

learn through guided discussions,<br />

a Q&A session, and an activity<br />

guide. Honored guest Holly Knight<br />

<strong>of</strong> Transwomen National will be<br />

presenting.<br />

4–5 p.m. Gheens Academy, 4425<br />

Preston Highway. This book study<br />

meets on multiple dates: <strong>February</strong><br />

13, <strong>February</strong> 22, and March 1.<br />

Participants will read and discuss<br />

Neurodiversity in the Classroom by<br />

Thomas Armstrong. Participants will<br />

review strengths-based strategies<br />

for working with students with<br />

special needs—including, but not<br />

limited to, learning disabilities and<br />

- and be active in discussion,<br />

activities, and group work. This book<br />

is used to celebrate the “diversity <strong>of</strong><br />

brains among students who learn,<br />

think, and behave differently.”<br />

session will include discussions,<br />

engagement, and activities.<br />

will learn about the skills and<br />

dispositions that enable us to<br />

recognize, respond to, and redress<br />

conditions that deny some students<br />

access as well as those that allow us<br />

to create equitable learning<br />
