Police Reports
Man assaulted by group at train station
A man was walking in
the middle of the roadway
at 1:33 p.m. on Jan.
21 at the intersection of
Sheridan Road and Arbor
Drive in Lake Forest,
attempting to flag an
officer down. The officer
met with the man who
stated he came from the
North Chicago train depot
and he took the train
from Chicago to meet a
women he met on Facebook
in North Chicago.
When he got off the train
to meet her, he was met
by a group of men who
assaulted him and stole
his cell phone.
The subject had fresh
scratches on his neck and
refused to make a police
report with the North Chicago
Police Department
because he did not know
who had stolen his phone.
The subject did not want
medial treatment for the
scratches, but was given
alcohol swabs and bandages.
North Chicago Police
Department was advised
of the incident, dispatch
stated they had no pending
incidents of that nature
but did record his
information. The subject
was transported to the
Lake Bluff train depot and
dropped off for the next
train to Chicago.

Jan. 27
• A driver was charged
with driving on a revoked
driver’s license at
3:47 p.m. on northbound
Route 41.
• A delayed report of
theft that occurred on
Jan. 25 was reported
at 5:14 p.m. in the 900
block of Rockland Road.
The reported loss is less
than $300.
Jan. 25
• A hit and run was reported
at 9:25 a.m. in the
intersection of Route 176
and Waukegan Road. Officers
arrived on scene and
observed both vehicles involved
in the traffic crash.
One citation for improper
lane usage was issued.
• Identity theft was reported
at 9:47 a.m. at the Public
Safety Building.
Jan. 23
• A hit and run was reported
at 8:07 a.m. in the
intersection of Sheridan
Road and E. Witchwood
Lane. Upon arrival the
officer met with the complainant
who stated she
was rear-ended by a large
tan sedan on Sheridan
Road at West Scranton
Avenue. The complainant
stated that the offender
pulled over briefly then
continued southbound on
Sheridan Road. Police located
the vehicle unoccupied
at Lake Forest High
School with front end
damage. The parent of the
offender arrived on scene,
stating that she had picked
her son up from LFHS and
dropped him off at home.
Both parties exchanged
information and stated
they wished to resolve the
matter privately.
• A delayed hit and run
was reported at 9:17 a.m.
in the 0-100 block of E.
Scranton Ave. Upon arrival
the officer met with
the complainant who
stated her vehicle was
struck while parked and
unattended, on Jan. 20 between
1-5 p.m. in the rear
parking lot. Officer made
contact with the offender
who left a note on the vehicle
and advised her of
the report.
Jan. 22
• A missing 3-year-old
child was reported missing
at 2:38 p.m. in Heathrow
Court. While en route,
officers were advised the
child was found and reunited
with her mother.
Jan. 20
• A traffic incident involving
a delivery truck and
a passenger car, with no
injuries, was reported at
10:43 a.m. in the intersection
of Sheridan Road and
E. Hawthorn Court.
• A delayed hit and run
vehicle accident was reported
at 4:03 p.m. in the
intersection of Route 176
and Skokie Valley Road.
The offending vehicle is
a blue older model Honda
Civic with slight front
end damage with unknown
registration. The
driver is a light skinned
female with dark hair.
The area was checked
and the vehicle was gone
upon arrival. The officer
met with the complainant
who stated his vehicle
was stopped on Route
176 and the vehicle behind
him rolled into the
rear of his vehicle. He
pulled off into the shoulder
and the over vehicle
continued westbound on
Route 176.
Jan. 18
• Two residents reported
their information was used
to have their home phone
number changed and replacement
credit cards sent
to another person’s address
at 1:33 p.m. at the Public
Service Building.
• A hit and run property
damage accident was reported
at 8:02 p.m. in the
300 block of S. Waukegan
Road. Officers arrived on
the scene and met with the
vehicle owner and witness.
Officers conducted follow
up at a local business in
an attempt to gain surveillance
footage from the
parking lot which yielding
to negative results.
Jan. 17
• A suspicious vehicle was
reported at 3:07 a.m. in the
Shore Acres Road east of
Sheridan Road. Upon arrival,
the officer made contact
with the subject who
stated he had a one vehicle
accident without injury. The
officer noted minor damage
to the tree line and no further
irregularities. The subject
stated he had a tow en
route and was able to move
the vehicle off the roadway
to prevent further hazard.
• A resident reported her
son, who lives in China on
a work visa, was the victim
of identity theft at 11:19
a.m. at the Public Service
Building.
• Telephone harassment
was reported at 3:52 p.m.
at the Public Service
Building.
Jan. 16
• A two vehicle private
property damage crash
was reported at 8:23 a.m.
in the 300 block of Rockland
Road.
• A fraudulent case was reported
at a business on E.
Center Ave.
Jan. 15
• A driver was charged
with speeding, operating a
vehicle with no valid registration,
operating an uninsured
vehicle and driving
with a suspended driver’s
license at 9:39 p.m. in the
intersection of Eva Terrace
and Route 176.
Jan. 14
• A driver was charged
with speeding and no valid
driver’s license after a traffic
stop at 12:39 a.m. on
northbound Route 41.
• Attempted identity theft
was reported at 11:41
a.m. at the Public Services
Building. An unknown
person had attempted to
purchase a phone through
a cell phone company utilizing
the complainant’s
personal information. The
complainant placed an
alert on her personal information
and the transaction
did not process.
• A possible deceased female
was reported at 12:38
p.m. in Wimbledon Court.
The officer confirmed the
resident had passed and
Lake County Coroner’s
office was notified. The
cause was not suspicious
in nature.
• A two vehicle property
damage accident was reported
at 2:19 p.m. in the
intersection of Bradford
Court and Brierfield Court.
Both vehicles were towed
due to damage.
• A delayed report of a burglary
that occurred sometime
since November was
reported at 3:43 p.m. in the
100 block of Green Bay
Road.
Jan. 13
• Retail theft was reported
at 4:30 p.m. on Rockland
Road. Officers met with
the loss prevention and
took the offender into custody.
The reported loss us
less than $300.
Lake Forest
Jan. 27
• Laura L. Cotton, 42, of
Gurnee, was charged with
no valid driver’s license
at 9:40 p.m. in the intersection
of Route 41 and
Westleigh Road.
Jan. 25
• Davarrius Wilson, 24, of
Waukegan, was charged
with driving with a suspended
driver’s license
and no valid car insurance
at 1:42 a.m. in the intersection
of Route 41 and
Deerpath Road.
Jan. 23
• Joshua J. Castellanos,
22, of Waukegan, was
charged with driving
under the influence of
drugs and unlawful possession
of cannabis in
the intersection of Route
41 and Deerpath Road.
Police on routine patrol
observed a vehicle driven
by Castellanos weaving
and crossing lanes
multiple times. When
stopped and questioned
by the police, Castellanos
stated he had recently
smoked marijuana and
it may affect his driving.
Police could smell the
odor of marijuana coming
from the vehicle.
Castellanos admitted to
having half an ounce of
marijuana in his pocket.
He was removed from
the vehicle, requested to
perform standard field
sobriety test to which he
subsequently failed.
