Over the course of my 5 years here at the Gateway Aesthetic Institute, the Avea Light Facial treatment (commonly known as a light facial, photofacial, or IPL) has remained one of our key procedures to help restore and maintain a youthful complexion. Avea Light Facial treatments address an array of superficial pigment and vascular changes caused by the sun that occur on the surface and in the mid-skin layers. This treatment has become increasingly popular because it is quick, easy to recover from, and provides almost immediate results. As the signs of sun damage flake away after one or more treatments, your skin will look younger in a matter of weeks—with no downtime. The Avea Light Facial is one of the most advanced, non-invasive cosmetic procedures for treating sun-induced freckles, age spots, acne stains, redness, the appearance of rosacea, and broken capillaries around the nose and on the cheeks. Skin texture and pore size is also improved, and many of our patients report fewer acne breakouts. The face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and back can be treated, with excellent results. Light facial treatments were developed for active, busy patients to whom time and appearance are important. With today’s active lifestyle, there isn’t much time for recovery from a cosmetic procedure, which is why IPL technology provides the single best treatment for overall skin improvement. What’s more, this treatment can be combined with other treatments such as Botox, Filler, and skin tightening, all on the same day. Skin products that are recommended with these treatments are Remergent’s DNA Repair Serum and IS Clinical’s Youth Complex.
Elisa Wilcox, PA-C, has been working closely with Dr. Taylor since May of 2003. Elisa specializes in most cosmetic dermatology and aesthetic procedures including: Botox injections, soft tissue augmentation, light facials, skin firming treatments, spider vein injections, acne treatments, laser hair removal, laser rattoo removal, and LipoDissolve treatments. Originally from California, Elisa earned her bachelor’s degree from BYU in Microbiology and Chemistry. She spent ten years working at Primary Children’s Medical Center as a Medical Technologist. Elisa graduated from the University of Utah with her master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and was awarded the Outstanding Leadership Award for her term. When she’s not making Gateway a pleasant place for clients and fellow employees, Elisa enjoys spending time with her husband and four kids. Gateway employees love to sample her tasty treats that she enjoys baking in her spare time. She is also an avid runner.
