ACTIVITIES
Though an air of peace and calm may reign over the mountains, there are plenty of activities
nearby to keep one busy, the ‘up country’ is as rich and varied as the tea it is famed for. The
unique sights and sounds of colourful festivals, ancient places of historical interest, and a wealth of
traditions from diverse cultures are a must to experience first-hand.
Many colonial landmarks also abound – the historic Darawala club and the beautiful Warleigh church, for
instance. The nearby towns and villages, temples and shrines off er a novel cultural experience too.
And if exploring isn’t one’s cup of tea, a serene Yoga session or an in-room spa therapy
treatment serve as perfect options for some quality “me time”.

Thrills and spills await you! Ride the rapids of Kitulgala River and leave the forest and villages behind
in some of the most versatile stretches of calm and rough waters. And to make all this possible,
adequate provisions for transport, guide, entrance tickets and refreshments will be arranged.

EXPERIENCE A ‘TRAIN AND BIKE JOURNEY’
This is an authentic ‘Zinc Journey’ invented programme which connects two separate experiences in
to a single programme to make it further exciting to experience. The programme off ers a scenic train
ride in a Sri Lanka National Rail compartment from Hatton to Thalawakale or from Hatton to Watawala
(depending on the availability) and a connecting bike ride on a pre-planned route adding nature,
history, landmarks and local life to the ride.
EXPERIENCE THE LOCALITY BY FOOT
There is so much to see during a refreshing hike around Mandira Bungalow. Set foot into the garden
and enjoy an early morning sighting of the world famous Adams peak. Go along the beautiful paths
and discover Sri Lankan birdlife and endemic bird species and set your eyes on exotic flora and
fauna. Then, follow the trails and walk among the green manicured tea gardens, explore the forests
and take a peek at life in doll’ss house villages. And end your little adventure with a good cup of
Ceylon Tea at Zinc Journey Mandiraa Bungalow.
