Dietary Manager Program<br />

Are you interested in upgrading your skills in food service management?<br />

Would you like to become a Food Service Supervisor?<br />

Certified Dietary Managers are nationally recognized experts at managing dietary operations.<br />

The LaGuardia ACE Dietary Manager Program provides training for people already working in a<br />

healthcare food service facility to continue up the career ladder.<br />

To qualify for the Dietary Manager Program, you must:<br />

1. Have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate<br />

2. Be currently working in a food service department<br />

3. Have a registered dietitian who will act as your preceptor<br />

The program is presented in three modules: fall, winter and spring. Each module runs for 10 weeks<br />

and includes 40 hours of lecture plus 50 hours of supervised fieldwork at the work site. Upon<br />

successful completion of the program, you are eligible to sit for the certification examination.<br />

Methodist Hospital. She has taught in LaGuardia’s Career and Professional Programs since 2002.<br />

Refresher<br />

Review the skills needed to enter the pharmacy field and take the<br />

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam <strong>with</strong> this comprehensive<br />

18-hour course. Topics include medical terminology specific<br />

to the pharmacy; reading and interpreting prescriptions; and<br />

defining drugs by generic and brand names. You will also review<br />

dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions,<br />

dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing, and<br />

reimbursement. A review guide and test preparation questions will be<br />

included. Prerequisite: 70 Hour Pharmacy Technician Certification<br />

Preparation Course.<br />
