L2 ~ Welcome
You are all excited and rearing to go and ready rip into it. That is
making money online.
If you are reading/watching/listening
to this…it is my assumption that you
have not got a website or blog site up
on the web at this stage and you are ready to take this scary giant
step into the cyber world and set up a self-hosted site of your own
so you can spread your messages to an audience that has the same
pain, hopes, dreams and desires that you have.
I also assume that some of you have been buying different make
money online shiny object thingy’s and joined a number of
different programs and are feeling very frustrated, overwhelmed
and downright disappointed up until this stage.
But I also assume that you are a strong person, who is stubborn and
doesn’t give up easily when confronted with adversity and is
willing to go that extra step to break through the barriers that life
throws in front of you. And when you get an idea, that burning
desire and that need to satisfy that entrepreneurial streak running
throughout your body you will sink your teeth into it, like a
ravenous dog after a bone.
So, let’s get on with it.
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 5 |P a g e

The time has come for you to choose a domain name for your blog.
And the number one question is? How do I choose the best domain
name for my blog site that will make me rich?...
No, No, none of that thinking...hold your horses.
We will forget about the part of (will make me rich) as that is not
in this guide or any other guide that I have when it comes to setting
up your blog site and online business.
Okay then…What domain name for my blog?…mmmm. You will
have some ideas for this and this is a typical question. In this
guide, we will go over some of the basics that will help you with
completing this task.
Do not over think it and remember to keep it simple. You will
discover how important and unimportant a domain name can be for
the overall success of your Website venture.
At this point I will give you a great tip and that is most
people/audience that will be attracted to your blog do not care less
about what your domain name is, to a certain extent. If they can see
value in it and it is memorable that’s great. They will only care if
the content is interesting enough for them to come back or
recommend it to other people that they know.
What all people want to know about you is if you care… before
they care about what you know. Trust and caring comes first…
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 6 |P a g e

Let’s go…Selecting and registering your domain name is your first
step.
Note: We are not mentioning or concerned about the free blogging
platforms, like Tumblr, Wordpress.com and Googles BlogSpot. It is
recommended that you always should be building your own piece
of digital real estate on your own self-hosted platform on the web.
Do not build it on someone else’s platform.
L3 ~ Why it is a Good Idea to Have a Domain Name
If you are thinking about having a presence online, then you will
need to have a domain name for your idea
project or first time business. As you become
more involved you’re your online activity you
will eventually have more than one domain
name.
A word of warning here…when you get the urge to buy a domain
name for any idea that pops into your head you will be wearing
yourself to thin across your projects. My advice is just put all your
passion and energy into just one project at a time.
I talk from experience I have bought to many domains for too
many dumb ideas that I thought were great at the time…maybe
they were not dumb ideas, it’s there is not enough hours in the days
and weeks to implement them.
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 8 |P a g e

The easiest trap to fall into is buying domain
names for later down the track. See they only cost
around $12 and you say to yourself I’ll get that.
Anyway, be warned.
Now you may be thinking that it is not all that
important to have a domain name but if you wish to have a real
identity on the web then you will be required to purchase a domain
name. Your domain name is your own unique piece of digital real
estate that can be found by anyone whilst searching on the web. In
short, your domain name which is your web/blog site makes you
real.
It is a place where you can capture subscribers/followers, record a
daily journal of what each day brings you. You could be using a
domain name for your resume.
If you come across a great product offer and you have the chance
to be an affiliate for that offer, then having your own domain to
promote that offer is a smart move because a lot of other people are
too lazy to go to that extent.
The best idea is to have a domain name with your own name in it.
This maybe the best idea going for you. This is just an idea.
When you do have your domain name you do have the option of
adding other sites projects bolted onto this one domain. It is a bit
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 9 |P a g e

like having extra sales people working out of the same building
with their own unique title/presence on the web.
These are called sub domains and or add-on domains.
We cover this in another guide of this “From Idea to Website”
course. Section 7; cPanel Getting to Know the Basics.
L4 ~ Popular Bloggers and Their Domain Names
This is a list of people who own successful blogs (just my opinion)
and what their domain names are. Use these names as examples
and these should give some ideas on how to choose a domain
name. Do not fall into the trap of overthinking it with domain
names. They are in no order of popularity.
L5 ~ Preparation for Coming Up with the Right
Domain
This is an important stage and can be the difference in whether you
will receive hundreds of visitors to your site or none. Grab a word
document or a piece of paper and jot down briefly the answers to
these questions.
1. What is your WHY?
2. What is your Purpose?
3. What is your Reason?
•What do you have of value to offer
people?
•What are the benefits going to be for your
visitors?
Your name must instantly interrupt the thoughts that people have
in their mind and get them to dig deeper into your site.
You do not have to please everyone in the world just the audience
that have the same pains, needs, wants, interests and desires as you
have. We all look for answers that will ease our pain or give us
pleasure. We must satisfy the pain side and the pleasure side.
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 21 |P a g e

When people come across your domain name they must be crystal
clear in understanding where you are coming from and what you
stand for….Read the Quote
People will be sharing your domain
name via social media sites, on other
blog sites, so if it is memorable, offers
value and it is a dot com name, then
people will have a better chance of
recognizing and remembering it.
Start recording again to finish section 5
As you can see in the section “Popular Bloggers and Their Domain
Names” the name of your blog can be important. Also, take
another look at my own domain names. Scan over these names to
get ideas.
•Now if your blog has a name that compels people that you wish to
target to click on it then you will be miles in front.
The Case for Using the Dot Com Extension:
Use the .com extension. There are heaps of different extensions
now days but I recommend just use the .com. Over 77% of web
sites out there end in a .com people are used to them. Search
engines are set up to look for them before others when serving up
results.
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 22 |P a g e

The other popular ones like the .net and .org are ok and there are
some popular blogs who use them. But try with all your
imagination to grab a .com extension.
You must use your imagination with this method as all the good
ones have been taken. People are so used to seeing the .com it is in
our sub conscious. And a .com will generally always out rank any
other extension in the search engines.
You can add an extra word on a name and you will be successful in
getting this domain. In saying that there are loads of domains for
sale and if you have got deep pockets you maybe be able to buy
one if it is available. In this guide, we don’t venture down that
track because we have to just keep it simple.
L6 ~ The Different Types of Domain Names
The most common question everyone has when first starting
out is “How Can I Pick A Winning Domain Name”
Well that question can be a very difficult question to answer
correctly because we do not have a crystal ball to
look into, to come up with the correct answer.
My own answer is just pick about five around
your idea that you like and then just take a stab at
one and go with that…register it and then that is
that job taking care off…DONE.
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 23 |P a g e

Look at your domain name carefully and make sure it reads the
way you say it and it doesn’t say something else by accident.
Like: kidsexchange.com = Kids Exchange
Like: penisland.com = Pen Island
Don’t get hung up on trying to come up with the perfect domain
name. A lot of the times any old name will do. You have seen the
examples here. Just register it and start your journey.
Here are some Key Ingredients…keep these points in mind...
1) Memorable
2) Easy to Spell
3) Branding
4) Makes a Promise
5) Descriptive
6) Keywords Don’t Matter
7) Dot com names matter
The Case for Using Your Own Name
My personal opinion is that you should get a domain with your
own name in it and if you own name is already taken you can add
on a suffix to the end of it.
Example: yourownnametips.com…
yourownnamecakes.com…
yourownnameplumbing.com.
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 24 |P a g e

You can brand yourself as your own name and do well with it. The
only issue with owning your own name is that
you cannot sell your blog site to other people.
And yes, buying and selling websites is big
business.
•Note with your own name a tip here is to
register the other extension .net and .org as
this stops other people who may get mad at you for some reason
from creating a hate site against you. This is the only time I
recommend getting these other extensions. For me my name is
Bruce Stewart and that domain name was already taken so I went
for brucestewartonline.com so just find something that you can
tack on to the end of your name. By the way I never bothered
registering any of the other extensions.
Using Other Businesses Branded Names
If you are thinking of using part of a company’s name or brand or
product in your domain name, then think again. Just use your
common-sense and don’t do it. It is not worth the hassle and you
will most likely get a takedown notice. It is best you don’t waste
your energy in this area.
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 25 |P a g e

Your Own Company Domain Name
Some people wish to have their company name as their domain
name. Before forming the company, you have to check to see if the
company name you have chosen is available. It would be terrible to
go to all that expense and then find you cannot get a domain the
same name.
Use your common-sense here as a business or company name does
not look right when it is a domain name. One is a therapist
company and their domain looked like this www. therapist.com
(the rapist.com).
In the country I live in and operate my business from I have a
company name registered in Australia called
Authority Site Nomad Pty Ltd and my domain
name and site is authoritysitenomad.com for
worldwide and I have the .com.au extension as
well for Australia the country.
The company name matches the domain name
and this is done for branding purposes and if the time comes to sell
the business it does have its own business name and website. This
is my online digital asset and you too could go down the path of
setting up your own online digital asset.
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 26 |P a g e

Any Target Market Domain Names
Here you target a section of a market and in marketing terms it is
sometimes call a niche or sub niche or micro niche or splinter
niche. All of those are target markets and if you are looking at
going into one of these areas you have to find out via Google who
is selling in this area to see if there are people talking about it. Is
there a buzz in the market?
The market you choose should already have an active audience in
it.
I have an example here called pregnantpleasures.com.
Note: This is not a functioning blog site just an example domain
name for your blog.
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 27 |P a g e

Topic Domain Names
You are the expert (in your own eyes) and
have strong opinions about subject matters
putting your point of view forward then a
topical blog could be the avenue for you.
Your blog name is about the topic of the
blog.
Example: www. Lookwhatgodleft.com
Topic here is what did God leave? This topic
will keep you going for years in fact all your
life. This is an evergreen topic.
Product Domain Names
This can be a product to help with weight loss. It could be abut
yourself or a friend. The product could be an affiliate product or
your own journey turned into an eBook and with videos to back up
the eBook. This would be your journey to losing weight that covers
managing your fitness and diet needs.
Example: www. Fatbettylostweight.com
©Copyright www.Learn.AuthoritySiteNomad.com 28 |P a g e

Hello my name is Fat Betty and I will show you a weight loss
management plan that can shed those unwanted pounds in a matter
of months…Something like that anyway.
Yoa…Lesson 6 is now completed and we will be moving onto the
next lesson and that is…Lesson 7…Domain Names and Hosting
stuff…
NOW LETS GO TO LESSON 7
L7 ~ Domain Names and Hosting
When you get to the “hosting” your blog section, you will find out
that you can host multiple domain names under the one Hosting
account. So you can register other domain names as you progress
further.
As I have mentioned previously do not get too hung up on
choosing a domain name. Fear of making a mistake will hold you
