10. Notice the little things - sometimes the simplest things, that we as adults take for granted, bring immense joy and
profound inspiration. When did we stop noticing the tiny miracles that surround
CHRISTOW
us daily? How much more beautiful
would life be if we could see these miracles again?
Staff at Coombeshead Academy are under no illusion that we are privileged each day to work with our students. Whilst
we expect the very best from each and every one of them, we make no apology for the high standards that we continue
to uphold. We will never stop allowing our students to be children and actively encourage the development of the whole
child in everything that we do.
SPORT & PE
On Tuesday 21 st February Miss Hardingham took the
Year 10 boys’ and girls’ volleyball team to compete at
the Level 3 Devon Games at St Peter’s Church of
England Aided School in Exeter. Coombeshead
Academy were competing for the South West.
The pool matches went well for both teams with the
boys winning games against Eggbuckland Community
College, Ivybridge Community College and Braunton
Academy.
The girls won against Hele’s School, with an impressive
33 -10 score, and also Braunton Academy and
Ivybridge.
The boys went into the playoffs where they won against
Eggbuckland’s second team, finishing 5 th out of nine schools. Ben Schafer performed some impressive skills
alongside Tiago Ford’s brilliant serves.
The girls went into the play offs and won through to the Bronze medal match where they met Braunton
Academy again. With a win against them already the girls were feeling positive. The game began with both
teams very evenly matched, each school alternatively winning points, until Ellen Ellis came to serve and won
seven points in a row.
Georgia Wilson also pulled out some unbelievable blocks
and Ella-mai some amazing spikes.
The score finished 39-17 with the girls winning the Bronze
medal!
Both teams were superb ambassadors for the school on the
day, very well done.
