Food
We are delighted to have Mrs Nicholson
back following her maternity leave. Things
are now very busy in DT as everybody is now
making their final products. Some students
have finished and are working on their evaluations
and diaries, others are still making.
Please do speak to your teacher about when
you can do additional work at lunch or after
school. 6th Formers are welcome (and encouraged!)
to come to the department in
their free periods to continue to work - there
is often a spare workbench and Miss Wells is
usually available to help if needed.
Year 11 Catering students have now finished
their final cook and are beginning to prepare
for their exam.
Group 9O made some fabulous Fruit Gateaux.
They have been looking at Factors
that Influence Food Choice and this led on to
Celebrations.
Textiles
Congratulations to the Year 13 textile students
on completing their 3 day (15 hour)
mock exam. They are now working on their
final piece ready for the final exam in June.
Year 10 and 11 students
are approaching the end of
their making lessons and
we have some fabulous
products being made.
Years 7 and 8 are making
Day of the Dead Skulls with
sew able electronic components
(yr 7) and wash
bags (yr 8) where
they are using a variety
of decorative techniques
and learning
to insert a zip.
Product Design/Resistant Materials
Students in years 13,12,11 and 10 are all
now constructing their product and making
progress towards completing their final design.
Please remember to speak to your
teachers about putting in extra time if you
need it! Year 8 students are making their
Rennie Macintosh inspired clock and Year 7
students are either making a games storage
unit or starting an exciting new project; a
candle holder inspired by Diwali the festival
of light.
