Graphics Our graphics students are also constructing their final products and will soon be onto evaluating their work. In Key Stage 3 students are either working on room design, game design or a new project involving ear wraps and creating their own packaging. Year 8 Options Evening Year 8 options evening was very successful for the department with lots of parents and students stopping to talk to us and ask questions. Please do feel free to ask any of the DT teachers about your DT options as we would love to see you in our year 9 classes next September! has enough materials to work with and then press print! When the students come back later on the machine has finished and they can remove their design, harden it and paint it. The whole process is very quick compared to doing it by hand. Here are some examples of designs we have 3D printed. 3D printing As some of you may know, we have a 3D printer in the DT department. 3D printing in the department is typically used to create intricate items that would be difficult to product by other methods. In industry it is often used to create quick prototypes to allow designers to test ideas and show models to their clients. The process is the same in both school and in industry. Students create their design on a CAD (Computer Aided Design) package such as Sketch Up or Pro Desktop. They then convert their file to a format that the 3D printer can read, make sure that machine
Radio 4's Any Questions? At <strong>Ashlawn</strong> <strong>School</strong>. We are excited to announce that Radio 4 will be broadcasting an episode of their topical panel show Any Questions? live from our East Hall on Friday 24th March. Tickets are free and are available to members of the local community. Please email dixonl@ashlawn.org.uk if you would like to attend; tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis. The evening is hosted by Jonathon Dimbleby who has presented the programme since 1987. You are encouraged to pose topical questions which will be submitted in writing to the panel on the night, the names of whom will be confirmed nearer the event. As this is a live recording, timings are strict, please be seated by 7.25pm at the latest.
