We would like to invite everyone to our 5th Annual Bull 

and Female Sale. The 2017 edition is one of our most exciting 

offerings. This past year proved to be full of challenges 

across the prairie provinces, predominately due to some 

adverse weather conditions. These conditions provided a 

silver lining however, the rain brought with it an abundance 

of grass and forage. The lush pastures led to our heaviest 

weaning group of calves to date. This extra weight proved to 

be vital as extreme mud in October and then rough frozen 

pens in November limited the development of the bulls. 

When pen conditions improved these animals really showed 

their genetic growth potential. The bulls have been slowly 

developed on a high roughage TMR consisting of oat/canola 

silage, starch-free pellet and grass hay. This fall we saw a 

market under pressure but the heavyweight cattle brought a 

substantial premium and this is where a Simmental calf will 

shine. Market prices have rebounded and 2017 is setting up 

for another exciting year to be in the cattle business. 

Our offering consists of a wide variety of Fullblood 

Fleckvieh, Red and Black Simmental bulls. With bulls ranging 

from high performance to calving ease we feel that there are 

herd sire prospects for every facet of the beef business on 

offer. We spend endless hours researching our own herd bull 

purchases and, as a result, these bulls are sired by a herd bull 

battery we are very proud of. AI is also becoming a more 

influential part of our program in order to incorporate some 

of the best outcross genetics in the herd. The sale group is 

mothered by a group of cows that are functional, high in 

maternal values and come from proven productive lines. 

Once again we are offering a select group of both 

registered and commercial open replacement females. Both 

sets have come right out of our replacement pen and if they 

weren’t in the sale they would be staying in the herd.

Welcome from Transcon 

The Beechinor families can proudly lay claim to their strong agriculture livelihood. The registered Simmental program is also 

flanked by a commercial cowherd that is, of course, high Simmental influence. Add to that, a grain farm that is not only located 

regionally but with land also in Saskatchewan for this division. 

The bull pen sees some different sire codes this year. This should appease regular, repeat customers who will notice some 

great new sire groups to purchase from by “Standout”, “Pretty Reckless” and “Capone”. However, strong evidence of “Magnum”, 

“Commotion”, “Viper” and “Wit”, all great past and present walking bulls at Beech Bros. are still to be found in this year’s offering. 

The heifer section to the sale, which we will see grow annually, is comprised of a squad of females that have been sorted with a 

theme of performance! You will appreciate these for their growth, in both weight and frame, with their future productive ability to 

raise big calves. Simply put, these come from the “big end” of the pen!

Delivery 

All bulls and heifers that are remaining to be housed after the sale must be 

insured. Bulls will be housed free of charge until April 15, 2017. Animals 

will be delivered free of charge to points across Alberta, Saskatchewan and 

Manitoba. This will be done at the buyer’s convenience, however, if the truck 

is in your area you may be asked to take your bull early. We will do our utmost 

to deliver your bull to your yard. 

Sight Unseen 

If you are unable to attend the sale, but are interested in bulls or heifers, please 

feel free to give the consignors a call prior to sale day and they will personally 

go over the bulls and your program to recommend the animal that would 

meet your needs. Following that, the Transcon Livestock Team will represent 

your needs in a professional and confidential manner. 

Health & Fertility 

All bulls will be scrotal measured. All bulls over 12 months of age will be 

semen tested. All bulls were treated with Ivomec and such products and 

have received all their vaccinations. Contact seller for details on programs. 

All sale bulls have been given Fusogard vaccine for foot rot prior to the sale. 

EPD Explanation 

EPD’s are “Expected Progeny Differences”. They are a useful tool in selection. 

EPD’s incorporate the individual animal with its ancenstry performance. EPD’s 

do no compare across cattle breeds. They are individual-based per breed. EPD’s 

indicate a probably variance above or below breed average for that trait for 

a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPD’s for calendar year bull calves is 

generally about 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously as one of several 

selection tools.

Mogul is a liver red head turner with big wrap-around goggles and pigment 

down to the ground. He is big-bodied with nice thickness and great testicle 

development. A very strong cow family backs this young bull with his great 

granddam, Eagle-Ridge Sarah 18S, being found in many top herd bulls in 

western Canada. His dam Arah, is a very promising young cow with a tight 

udder who did a great job weaning Mogul off as one of the heavy weights.

One of the most intriguing herd bull prospects in the pen. Ducati started with 

a modest 82lb birthweight and quickly exploded with growth, weaning off 

his first calving dam as one of the heavyweights. He is dark red with lots of 

pigmentation, a long body, and is smooth-made through his head and front 

end. His dam was purchased as the high seller from Anchor D’s 2015 female sale 

and is a beautiful young cow who just gave birth to a fancy 75lb Titanium heifer 

calf. This cow ties many of Skeels’ most productive donor cows together in her

Pillar is truly a unique individual with some impressive traits. The 93lb birth 

weight to 950lb actual mid August weaning weight is a spread that is not often 

seen. He is a polled/scurred herd sire prospect that not only keeps up with his 

horned pen mates in terms of performance but surpasses many of them. When 

you analyze this bull you’ll appreciate the length of body and thickness across

Westgold Standout was the high selling 2013 Fullblood bull in Canada and

Standard is probably the soggiest sided Standout son we have this year. He is

This dark red Valor son is one of the younger bulls in the sale that you should 

get marked down. He is extremely square-made with an excellent hair coat, 

dark red and moderate in his make up. The maternal ability in Valor’s pedigree 

with Wit, 1U and 46S combined with the herd matron Saffron 3S, means Brave 

will leave daughters that will rival any. Saffron raised the $27,500 high selling 

bred in the 2015 Equation to JNR/Kulyk. Other notable progeny are excellent

Wit was a bull we lost in his first breeding season to a lightning strike but were 

fortunate to have a small semen bank froze on him. We continue to breed a few 

cows to him each year and he never disappoints. Vision 42D is the calf featured

Firewater is very balanced from front to back. He is deep through his lower

Gangster ties many important traits together. With his long spine, larger frame

This is a personal favourite of ours who was part of the show pen this summer 

along side his first-calving dam. Maybe not as big on the performance as some 

of his larger-framed pen mates but he might be the thickest. He is naturally 

heavy-muscled, showing the ‘herd bull look’ at a very young age. His Beef King 

dam did a heck of a job weaning him off over 800lbs in the middle of August. 

Another strong cow family that has multiple feature bulls in the sale. Royal 

King’s grand dam has one of the stand out black bulls this year selling as lot

Fury is a naturally thick, diamond-faced prospect out of the popular Commotion 

bull. This guy has looked extremely promising right from a young calf as he

This will be one of the strongest groups of commercial females that 

we have offered. The commercial herd remains a vital part of our 

operation and has been developed meticulously over the past 40 

years. Much like the registered herd, a great deal of emphasis has 

been placed on the strength of cow families and these females stem 

from many of our top lines. Once again they are sired by herd bulls 

that perform dual duties in both the registered and commercial herd, 

either by natural or AI means. The blaze faced group are big powerful 

red females that are at least half Fleckvieh and sired by Viper, Wit and 

Commotion. The solid red group are moderate and thick being sired 

by Anarchy and Commotion. The traditional group is a nice set that
