INTRODUCTION
Internet of Cars Sustainable Vehicle Technologies
Accident prevention, connectivity, and environmental protection make up an
emerging concept called the Internet of Cars “IoC”. E-Logs Technology embraces
the possibilities of the Internet of Cars making smarter, self-sufficient vehicles for
operators and passengers into a reality. The precise accuracy of an E-Logs device
will force drivers to remain perfectly in lane at the most effective speed.. Crash
prevention measures include avoidance systems such as “Close Vehicle Proximity
Alerts” which will become vital to roadway safety. E-Logs protects drivers with an
audio alert followed by visual depictions of any given event with one goal in mind:
safer driving. Common instances include motorcycles approaching from “blind
spots” located diagonally behind rear passengers. By providing these alerts and
a 360° view of a vehicle's s urroundings, E-Logs Technology will essentially
eliminate blind spots.
Sensors will also determine the exact spacing between cars and advise
adjustments for the safest, most efficient route possible. E-Logs Technology
achieves this by focusing on vehicle diagnostics and communication with on-board
wifi units, fuel effective route mapping, and omni-vehicle communication, or
Vehicle to Everything (V2X) communication..
E-Logs elevates the driving experience with personalized entertainment and
connectivity linked to roadways and infrastructure everywhere. Greener driving is
promoted by focusing on power and fuel efficiency which will minimize carbon
emissions creating a more sustainable environment. The Internet of Cars will cause
the convergence functionally necessary to enable the autonomous vehicle
revolution to take place. E-Logs is on the cutting edge of these technologies
currently testing state-of-the-art on-board wireless sensor networks, electronic
diagnostic devices, and safety networks comprised of sensors communicating with
cars, drivers, and surrounding infrastructure.
V2X - Vehicle to Everything
Vehicle to Everything is an elaborate network of
highly sophisticated sensors mounted in vehicles for
continuous communication and connectivity within
its environment. The data generated and collected
between vehicles, pedestrians, and infrastructures
will aid E-Logs inoptimizing operational efficiency
for global commerce. Vehicles powered by E-Logs
Technology will ultimately improve the mobility of
people and goods, simultaneously preserving the
environment, and sustainable ecosystem. The V2X
ecosystem assimilates data collected and deciphers
each data point to further enhance the quality of
automobile safety performance.
V2X Safety Protocols
E-Logs Technology is constantly conducting research and innovating transportation
assets to improve public safety through sustainable vehicle technologies. For
instance, crash avoidance networks reduce transit-related injuries and fatalities. By
creating a system to measure vehicle data E-Logs gains a better insight of exact overall
vehicle conditioning and reliability. Eliminating vehicle malfunctions will instantly
increase safety. E-Logs accomplishes this by allowing the driver to monitor vehicle
health in real time. Drivers are not constantly aware of their surrounding environment
courtesy of proximity alerts such as blind spot awareness which reveal approaching
motorcycles to unsuspecting drivers. Promoting safety means creating autonomous
systems which maintain the perfect distance from other cars, while holding the driver
perfectly in line at just the right speed.
Vehicle Communications Powered by Wireless Technologies
Automated vehicles save energy and reduce air pollution that arises from the
transportation sector through greater operating efficiency. Improving the efficiency of
the supply chain industry will entail of vehicle sensor technologies to support various
methods of communication, such as:
V2P - Vehicle To Pedestrian
Safety will always be a staple for
sustainable vehicle technologies aiming
to prevent traffic accidents from
occurring on roadways. Among other
things, E-Logs ensures human and environmental
safety. Vehicle to Pedestrian
(V2P) communication targets a wide
spectrum of roadway users including:
walkers/joggers, parents pushing
strollers, disabled wheelchair users,
passengers boarding and dismounting
buses/trains, and pedestrians riding
bicycles.
V2P TECHNOLOGY
Sensors generate automated alerts cautioning
pedestrians who may be visually
impaired and/or simply have an inconspicuous
view of traffic signals ahead.
Warning alerts will notify transit bus
operators of pedestrians at an unsafe
distance and/or who are in the immediate
path of the vehicle. Conversely,
information would automatically be
relayed between the operator and
citizens when inattentive motorists make
unsafe lane changes and endanger
pedestrians.
Pedestrians at crossing intersections should not feel endangered by oncoming traffic.
V2M - Vehicle to Motorcycle
Each year 2,200 people are killed with more than 55,000 injuries involving motorcycles.
In fact, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released
a study showing “The number of motorcyclist crash-related fatalities has more than
doubled during the past 10 years.” Generally the number of hours to complete a
crash investigation case, including collecting control data, results in an average cost
of about $7,500. The study found that “[the] most common cause of motorcycle
accidents is the failure of drivers to detect and recognize motorcycles in traffic.” The
safety of motorcyclists on our nation’s roads has become an increasing concern
among traffic safety professionals with the rising number of motorcyclist fatalities each
year. The solution is effective communication from vehicle to motorcycle.
The Future of V2M
Vehicle to Motorcycle (V2M)
It has become a top priority for E-Logs
Technology to effectively produce sustainable
safety technology which mitigates the
unnecessary tragic loss of life on all roadways
across the world. The efforts include exciting
breakthroughs such as proximity alerts which
create total awareness for all drivers. Such
technology will create a 360° visibility sphere
depicting the surrounding environment thus
ending the most common cause of motorcycle
accidents. Certain factors which weigh in on
the development of V2M communications
include type, size, and handling
characteristics of the motorcycles.
Think Suzuki GSX-R versus Harley Davidson. The types of data collected include detailed reports of
motorcycle operations and functionality. .
By implementing technology developed by E-Logs, roads will be safer for everyone, including
motorists. Autonomous features such as 360° visibility will be key in lowering motorcyclist
crash-related fatalities. E-Logs is currently researching this new technology and expects to
launch these features by 2020.
V2I - Vehicle to Infrastructure
2
Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) communications is the wireless transmission of crucial
safety data/operational information between vehicles, and roadway infrastructure.
For the purposes of avoiding motor vehicle crashes E-Logs Technology is currently
testing multiple communication platforms designed to save lives. Vehicle to Infrastructure
applications are key to smarter transportation systems that’ll soon reinvent the
future of logistics and highway travel. Such applicable tests address critical crash scenarios
and challenge current transportation status quos.
This is not limited to the manipulation of traffic signal timing information sent from
emergency responder vehicles via wireless networks. Purposeful influencing of traffic
signal timing will enable emergency vehicles to arrive on scene as quickly as possible
A “Communicore” publication summarizes
sudden cardiac arrest as
the most common critical emergency,
striking more than 350,000
people annually in the US alone.
About 90% of those treated within
two minutes will survive. Fatal
results typically follow treatment of
sudden emergencies with only
about 10% surviving if help arrives
only 6 minutes after.
These situations are no respecter of location
or timing. A sudden emergency will take
place regardless of a victim’s whereabouts.
E-Logs will employ advanced V2I wireless
technologies to mitigate about 20% of crash
scenarios not addressed by its V2V platform.
The latest effort to develop active emergency
prevention is expected to bring forth exciting
results. E-Logs practices maintaining a high
level of infrastructure support for V2I safety
platforms maximizing transportation safety
and efficiency.
V2A - Vehicle to Animal
Vehicle to Animal Communications
The prolific bond between human and dog in some cases could be seen in the same
light as parent to child. Unfortunately, It is estimated more than 1 million dogs are
killed on US roads per year. The tragic and sudden loss of any pet would understandably
bring a time of mourning. The mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship
between humans and dogs has been the case of study for sometime by psychologists.
Soon, E-Logs intends to save as many lost or absconded pets as possible through
Vehicle to Animal (V2A) Communication.
Vehicle to Animal(V2A)
Communication is the sort of
technology which not only saves
the lives of our furry
companions, but also the hearts
of many children around the
world. Alert systems and safety
protocols will announce
wondering animal locations
in real-time eliminating driver
stress as pets cross into street
lanes.
How Vehicle to Animal (V2A)
Communication works
As long as the pet has a GPS Tracer it
has the potential to be detected by
E-Logs vehicle to animal proximity sensors.
As the pet approaches an intersection
an alert will automatically be
sent to any connected vehicles in the
general area.
Unlike Microchip for dogs which is
used for authentication of a lost pet, the
GPS Tracker is used for real-time tracking.
Typically the GPS Tracker is larger
about the size of a quarter whereas the
microchip normally is about the size of
a grain of rice.
CRYSTAL’S EDITS
The prolific bond between humans and dogs is sometimes seen in the same light
as parent child relationships. We love our pets and incorporate them into our
family life. Unfortunately, estimates say that vehicles kill more than 1 million dogs
on US roads every year. The sudden loss of a pet understandably brings pain
and mourning. The mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between
humans and dogs is the
subject of study by psychologists because of its unique intricacies. With
developing technology, Vehicle to Animal (V2A) Communication, E-Logs intends
to save as many loving pets and animals as possible.
Vehicle to Animal (V2A) Communication has the ability not only to save the lives
of our furry companions, but also to protect the hearts of children and animal
lovers around the world. Alert systems and safety protocols will announce
wandering animal locations in real-time. Therefore, drivers will have one less
thing to worry about on the road. Cats can keep more of those nine lives for
when they really need them!
How Vehicle to Animal (V2A) Communication works
Our proximity sensors can detect any
pet with a GPS Tracer. As the pet
approaches an intersection,our technology
will send an alert automatically to
connected vehicles in the general area.
Unlike a microchip, which identifies lost
pets, the GPS Tracker uses real-time
tracking.Typically the GPS Tracker is
about the size of a quarter, whereas the
microchip is normally about the size of a
grain of rice.
No matter how careful or perfect we try to be with our care, sometimes unforeseen
circumstances or emergencies may leave our pets to roam freely. That may mean that
a dog or cat makes it out to the street all alone. Pet owners and animals lovers will
be spared a heartache if the proper technology is available. E-logs is looking to
keep those little guys safe and all of us happy.
Vehicle Crash Avoidance Technology
Vehicle communication detects physical objects
while vehicles are in motion. Crash avoidance
is the continuation of vehicle safety features and
system protocols designed to prevent motorists
from colliding with one another. In preparation
for autonomous cars on our roads, E-Logs
continues innovating their sustainable vehicle
ecosystem with newer technologies and safer
driving protocols that automatically alert
motorists when approaching a distressed
environment.
A few automated safety features include
Vehicles Approaching
E-Logs collision mitigating network connects to sensors and cameras to help
prevent accidents and better observe public roadways. Sensors and cameras
reduce the amount of accidents that occur each year on U.S. highways. Vehicle
communication enables an array of multi-purpose networks. Such networks
include standard safety features such as, airbag deployment or seat belt sensors.
In the unlikely event of a collision, E-Logs self-automated technology shares time,
location and severity to expedite assistance. Streamlining network
communications, upon detection of vehicle impact, automatically send distress
signals for first responder emergency assistance. Improving vehicle and driver
safety features are key fundamentals that will improve traveling for citizens on
highways around the world. E-Logs vehicle technologies diagnose automobile
health while surveying the future, and simultaneously monitoring visible roadway
activities.
A Modern History of Automated Vehicles...
Driverless vehicles are closer than you think! While the concept of an automated
vehicle may seem futuristic, many companies such as Google and Tesla have
taken initiative by already implementing autonomous features. Sit back and relax,
automated vehicles will bring more mobility and efficiency, and thus save us a lot
of time. Recently, the Department of Transportation published the “Federal Automated
Vehicles Policy,” which outlined safety regulations for US roads, and
made it the first country to develop regulations for automated vehicles. The industry
states highly automated vehicles are projected to be on the roads as early as
2020.
In the early 2000’s three military
incentives that sparked interest in
automated vehicle automation were
Demo I (US Army), Demo II (DARPA),
and Demo III (US Army). The goal
was to design automated vehicles to
solve transportation issues such as
congestion and accidents. The
events were designed to produce an
unmanned vehicle that could autonomously
navigate difficult terrain.
Only a few contestants were able to
complete the challenge.
By the 2010’s all major automotive
manufacturers have started to
research and develop automated
vehicles. Using an array of sensors
and communication systems, many
automobile manufacturers have at
least achieved an autonomous prototype.
Google states “We’ve self-driven
more than 1.5 million miles and
are currently out on the streets of
Mountain View, California, Austin,
Texas, Kirkland, Washington and
Metro Phoenix, Arizona.”
Fully automated vehicles are not currently
available to the public, but that
is projected to change within the
next few years.
Framework for Environmental Justice
The environmental justice framework is
an attempt to uncover underlying issues
that contribute to record-breaking pollution
levels in industrial cities and overexploitation
of our ecosystem. We believe
all individuals and communities have the
“right” to be protected from environmental
deterioration. This will continue to be
a predominant focus for E-Logs Technology,
in addition to extra safety precautions
and community health.
Surely, achieving this vision will help
vulnerable, environmentally burdened,
and economically disadvantaged ecosystems
become healthier, cleaner, and
more sustainable. Also, by better understanding
these explicit dangers, we can
promote environmental justice. In light of
never before seen pollution levels, don’t
you think it’s time to do what we can to
keep our earth clean? E-Logs wants to
make that easy for you!
Environmental Justice
Commonly, low income areas bear the brunt of environmental issues. On
February 11, 1994, President Bill Clinton signed Executive Order 12898,
creating a federal Environmental Justice (EJ) program. The program addresses
environmental issues in minority and low-income populations.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines environmental justice
as, "The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people ... with respect
to ... environmental laws, regulations, and policies. According to the Clinton
Administration, fair treatment means that “no group of people... should bear a
disproportionate share of negative environmental consequences..."
Environmental justice is all about being fair and giving everyone a seat at the
table. With this in mind, E-Logs Technology has developed a sustainable
method of detection that monitors and records emissions. Additionally, it determines
emission levels in natural gas powered vehicles. Low cost sensors record
a vehicle's carbon dioxide emission levels. By better monitoring greenhouse
gases, we provide better air quality for everyone. Consequently, our technology
will promote environmental responsibility and justice.
5 Ways E-Logs Improves Supply
Chain Industry
We will help our Supply Chain Industry GROW by reducing freight
expenditures through our load board feature. By simply allowing shippers to connect
directly with carriers for logistics purposes, millions of dollars will be saved annually.
We are going to keep great owner operators in the game by Reducing Costs. Such
costs include insurance premiums. By providing "Safe Driver" records to insurance companies
we will be making the effort to combat high costing premiums for deserving drivers..
We also offer compliance
reporting such as the quarterly IFTA reports at just $10 per report, which currently cost
as much as $400 annually for owner operators. Another notable benefit is that E-Logs
is the most cost effective ELD solution on the market. By reducing costs at the driver's
level we help ensure that we will keep the best drivers on the road, which is an integral
part of the Supply Chain Industry.
Improving the Supply Chain Industry through Accountability. Real Time GPS tracking
allows for shipper/customer/carrier transparency. Gone are the days when drivers
were able to say they had an ETA of 30 minutes while still 2 hours away from the destination.
Real Time GPS greatly increases security in our industry; and as a byproduct;
shippers will be more willing to connect with drivers in a way they never have before.
The nature of our ELD automatically makes highways a Safer Place.. The purpose of
the device serves dually to protect the driver from harassment as well as assure all Hours
of Service (HoS) rules are being observed. When drivers are pushed past their limits,
fatigue sets in, which can be tragically followed by a highway fatality like in many
cases.
Our ELD is in essence a diagnostics reader. E-Logs will be able to Provide Crucial Real
Time Data to semi tractor manufacturers explaining which parts are most likely to malfunction.
This obviously turns into greater reliability on all highways globally. E-Logs
may actually be a pivotal component in setting future industry standards for vehicle
mechanics. E-Logs will transform the Supply Chain Industry by reducing future
breakdowns. This will keep our economy rolling in the right direction.
current vehicle location.
GPS parameters include: latitude, longitude, altitude, vehicle speed and
heading (direction). The Universal Time clock (UTC), popularly known as
GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) provides a time standard, especially if
more than one acquisition device is used, or if vehicles are in different time
zones.
WiFi
The WiFi transmitter and antenna are conveniently located within one of the
Mini Loggers (J1939, OBD or ADAQ loggers). The 802.11 b, g and n
standards are supported. WiFi is an excellent way to automatically transmit the
vehicle data whenever the vehicle is within range of a designated WiFi
hotspot.
The WiFi hotspot could be part of your company’s local area network (LAN), a specifically
installed WiFi hotspot with cellular connectivity provided by a cellular provider, or a third
party WiFi hotspot.
17
The WiFi hotspot could be at a fixed location such as a depot or office. The
advantage to this is that many vehicles can share one hotspot.
If the hotspot is in the vehicle, then real-time data is possible, and any other
devices in the vehicle can share this hotspot. A fleet can have a mix of hotspot’s
depending on the need for real-time data.
WiFi Hotspots
The WiFi hotspot devices range from relatively inexpensive devices (around $50)
from cellular carriers to more rugged devices from a variety of suppliers. Most
hotspots work from up to about a 150 ft distance , but powered antennas and
repeaters (extenders) can extend this range.
Environmental Justice
Commonly, low income areas bear the brunt of environmental issues. On
February 11, 1994, President Bill Clinton signed Executive Order 12898,
creating a federal Environmental Justice (EJ) program. The program addresses
environmental issues in minority and low-income populations.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines environmental justice as,
"The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people ... with respect to
... environmental laws, regulations, and policies. According to the Clinton
Administration, fair treatment means that “no group of people... should bear a
disproportionate share of negative environmental consequences..."
Environmental justice is all about being fair
and giving everyone a seat at the table. With
this in mind, E-Logs Technology has
developed a sustainable method of detection
that monitors and records emissions.
Additionally, it determines emission levels in
natural gas powered vehicles. Low cost
sensors record a vehicle's carbon dioxide
emission levels. By better monitoring
greenhouse gases, we provide better air
quality for everyone. Consequently, our
technology will promote environmental
responsibility and justice
Framework for Environmental Justice
The environmental justice framework is an attempt to uncover underlying issues
that contribute to record-breaking pollution levels in industrial cities and
overexploitation of our ecosystem. We believe all individuals and communities
have the “right” to be protected from environmental deterioration. This will continue
to be a predominant focus for E-Logs Technology, in addition to extra
safety precautions and community health.
Surely, achieving this vision will help vulnerable, environmentally burdened, and
economically disadvantaged ecosystems become healthier, cleaner, and more
sustainable. Also, by better understanding these explicit dangers, we can promote
environmental justice. In light of never before seen pollution levels, don’t
you think it’s time to do what we can to keep our earth clean? E-Logs wants to
make that easy for you
Noise Pollution
Transportation Sector
Pollutants don’t always smell bad or look awful, pollution also comes in the form
of sound. The traditional definition describes noise pollution as unwanted noise.
This serious environmental challenge interferes with normal day to day activities
such as sleep, conversations, hearing, and peace of mind, but can be easily
overlooked. It is quite astonishing that some U.S. cities do not regulate noise
levels. As a socially sustainable organization, we acknowledge the dangers of
noise pollution and the major role of the transportation industry in our quality of
life.
For example, first responders such as
police officers, fire engines, and emergency
medical services respond to
distress calls. Typically they turn on their
loud sirens to help mitigate traffic until
they arrive to their destinations. Each day
noise pollution affects millions of Americans.
Individuals widely exposed to high
levels of loud sounds are typically more
stressed and unhealthy. Unwanted
sounds in our environment also make us
less productive. In some scenarios,
long-term exposure to noise pollution
leads to noise-induced hearing loss.
Are trains noise pollution and making us go deaf?
E-Logs Technology plans to solve noise pollution with sustainable methods. For
instance, train activity near residential properties makes a lot of unwanted
racket. Train horns produce an excruciating noise, this in turn constantly discomforts
homeowners and devalues their properties.
E-Logs Technology is in the process of redesigning railroad crossings in an effort
to reduce noise pollution. E-Logs proposes adding small speakers that beep
around railroad crossings and/or similar to those near street crossings. These
speakers will operate in the frequency range of 2000 - 5000 Hz, which are the
frequencies humans are most sensitive to. Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) technology
will also activate this warning notification within the vehicle. Doing so eliminates
the need for a disruptive train horn. E-Logs plans to eradicate noise pollution
with the implementation of these new methods. Although, these effects are
quite serious, very few governmental entities address the issue. We are excited
to bring about quieter and more peaceful days and nights for everyone.
Everyday Mobility
Today’s Mobility processes are dramatically shifting due to a maturing technical
infrastructure along with transit ridesharing, and micro delivery services powered by
crowdsourcing. Shared mobility options increasingly complement and expand transportation
options, reducing the amount of vehicles in any given stretch of
roadway. Major trends which also impact overall mobility are demographic statistics,
economic trends, technological advancement, and social stability. E-Logs Technology
has evaluated the potential for implementing
sustainable vehicle technologies in major traffic areas such as the Greater Los Angeles
area. In conclusion, E-Logs found that congested areas increase the likelihood of
accidents. The major focus shifts to vehicle safety ratings through asset innovation
and technological improvements. Economic trends rally as the flow of goods and
services increase in the absence of roadway congestion
Freight Mobility
In matters which concern freight transportation, E-Logs systematically strives to solve
major domestic distribution bottlenecks choking international trade. This is
accomplished by focusing on vehicle communication and diagnostics. The flagship
product introducing E-Logs to the market is the Electronic Diagnostics Device
(EDD) which monitors Hours-of-Service (HOS) and driver duty status in regards to
the FMCSA’s ELD Ruling. This ruling tremendously impacts the supply chain
industry. E-Logs empowers freight mobility by perfecting vehicle performance. The
diagnostic device along with the proper protocols allow for total and complete
customization. E-Logs Technology has created a platform from which the device
will accelerate future flow of goods and services along with improving highway
safety. In coordination with local, state, and federal authorities, commercial
conditions will continue to improve by leveraging mobility, enhancing safety
measures, and delivering the next generation of vehicle technologies.
