Brian Gay, Past President of the Camp
Courageous Board of Directors, accepts
a check from Mary Sundblad, owner of
Stuff Etc. This wonderful group took Camp
Courageous on as a project during the
month of February and raised a wonderful
donation for camp.
We are grateful to Jim Nagel, Director
Options of Linn County for inviting camp to
emcee their annual awards night. Jim and
the staff at Options do an exceptional job
with their consumers, and most of them are
Camp Courageous Campers. It is always a
highlight of the year.
Thank you to the Quad City Morning
Optimist Club and Ed Ellis for giving Camp
Courageous the opportunity to present
a program to their group. They are an
outstanding group that supports the camp
in work, financially, and with supplies... and
they all have fun doing it. Great Group!
A big thank you to Nestle-Purina PetCare
Co. for their donation of two pallets of cat
food, which meets a huge need at the
camp. Nestle-Puina, and plant manager,
Frank Clark, in Davenport have been great
supporters of the camp for many years.
Getting the donation to the camp were
volunteers Danny Connell, Bruce Thoene,
and Jim Goetsch… three great camp
supporters.

Camp Remembers Sylvia McKinder Schnoebelen
Sylvia was one
of the nicest ladies
I ever had the
pleasure of meeting!
Everything about
her was first
class. We go back
decades ago when
our paths crossed
through a youth organization we were
both involved with. Then we lost track
of each other for many years. Then
through Clete Schnoebelen's (Honorary
Board Member Norb Bahl's partner at
Frost Oil) the relationship rekindled.
Sylvia enjoyed going to the Pineapple
Gala and after Clete's death she enlisted
her great niece, Alicia Hansen to obtain
NASCAR items for the Pineapple Gala
Auction. Each year I would travel to
her place in Cedar Falls and spend an
Camp Courageous was very important
to Aunt Sylvia. She spoke of you and Camp
Courageous often. That is why we chose
your organization for one of the memorials.
Great-niece Alicia (Hansen) Burdick (my
niece) gave a tribute to Sylvia today during
the funeral service and she mentioned
how honored she was when Aunt Sylvia
would ask her to coordinate the donated
NASCAR items for the Pineapple Gala.

across the midwest for lifetime experiences

Travel campers had a BLAST at the Bad
Lands National Park in South Dakota.

Steve just called all excited and laughing
about his experiences on the Yellowstone
trip. He called Old Faithful “awesome.”
He enjoyed the bison holding up traffic
and related seeing elk, moose, wolf, etc. The
camp's travel program has greatly enhanced
Steve's life. He has bragging rights within
the family of places he has traveled that
none of the rest of us have visited.
Thank you for a well managed vacation.
Hopefully Steve behaved and was not a
problem for you and the staff. He is looking
forward to his next adventure in November.
A plus… he gained not a pound!!
