Towards the end of 1992, the Slovenian Institute of Quality and Metrology (SIQ) was founded as the
successor of the Institute of Quality and Metrology (IKM), with the founding contract signed by the
Government of the Republic of Slovenia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, Iskra
Holding d.d. (as a representative of the Iskra Group), Gorenje Gospodinjski Aparati d.o.o., Triglav
Insurance Company d.d. and the Institute of Quality and Metrology (IKM).
SIQ was founded according to the Law on Institutions and is governed by the SIQ Council. The SIQ
certification system is administered and supervised by the Board of Certification Body.
In both governing bodies there are representatives of the interested public, economic and industrial
associations, as well as delegates of institutions representing the customers for SIQ’s services.

Convincing facts and figures
Every year we issue over:
• 3000 certificates of product conformity,
• 300 internationally recognised reports and certificates
of product conformity,
• 80 certificates for quality management systems
according to the ISO 9001 standard,
• 10 certificates for environmental management
systems according to the ISO 14001 standard.
Every year we carry out more than:
• 2000 calibrations of measuring instruments
and measurement standards, and
• 900 calibrations of measuring instruments
and measurement standards within the scope
of our accreditations.
Every year we organise over 150 seminars,
attended by more than 3000 individuals with
a need for the knowledge we can provide.
We are a notified body for nine EU directives:
LVD, MD, ATEX, MDD, R&TTE, NOISE, PPE,
LIFTS, and EMC.
We are holders of:
• six accreditations for testing laboratories,
• two accreditations for calibration laboratories,
• four accreditations as a type A inspection
body,
• five accreditations as a management
systems certification body,
• five accreditations as a product
certification body.
We have a team of 90 employees and
150 external contractual auditors, lecturers
and experts, all of whom have
set excellence as their ideal.

TESTING, ASSESSMENT, CERTIFICATION, PRODUCT AND

Trust
The safety of people and the environment is too
important to be left to chance.
Legislative and standardisation bodies are aware of this
fact and, with ever new rules and standards, try to keep up
with technology and include within the safety and functional
requirements all of the products being daily conceived and
designed in the minds of engineers and on paper.
Manufacturers must be aware of this fact.
We are aware of it.
For this reason we follow development and acquire new
knowledge, expertise and accreditations. We already
offer accredited services for the majority of testing,
certification and product inspection services. In the
field of gaming device certification we are among
the first certification bodies in the world to hold an
accreditation for this particular service.

MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ASSESSMENT
AND CERTIFICATION
Organisation
Organisation, transparency, orderliness, reliability;
these are the values we appreciate in people, and
the same is true of organisations.
The organised, transparent, reliable management
of operations earns trust, and the trust of
the public at large thus won creates new business
opportunities. Since potential customers and partners
of an organisation do not have an insight into its operation,
a management systems certificate issued by an accredited
certification body can be convincing proof of high
operational standards.
We assess and certify management systems in organisations
according to the ISO 9001 standard requirements,
and according to the requirements of other specific standards
that upgrade or amend the ISO 9001 standard.
Apart from holding the relevant accreditations, we are
also a member of the international network of certification
bodies IQNet, so our certificate also testifies to the conformity
of an organisation's management system beyond

Certainty

In the background of the technical conformity of
products and services is metrology, the science
and practice of measurement. It is also in the
background of our endeavours for higher quality
of our lives.
We are the holder of the national measurement
standards of electrical current, and of time and
frequency.
The scope of our accreditation in the field of
calibration is one of the broadest among
the European laboratories, and includes
electrical, telecommunications, acoustic,
vibration and other measuring equipment.
We have more than four decades
of experience in measurement
technologies, related development
projects, and in dealing with complex
measuring equipment in
various fields, and we continue
to develop new measuring procedures,
measuring instruments
