Towards the end of 1992, the Slovenian Institute of Quality and Metrology (<strong>SIQ</strong>) was founded as the<br />
successor of the Institute of Quality and Metrology (IKM), with the founding contract signed by the<br />
Government of the Republic of Slovenia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, Iskra<br />
Holding d.d. (as a representative of the Iskra Group), Gorenje Gospodinjski Aparati d.o.o., Triglav<br />
Insurance Company d.d. and the Institute of Quality and Metrology (IKM).<br />
<strong>SIQ</strong> was founded according to the Law on Institutions and is governed by the <strong>SIQ</strong> Council. The <strong>SIQ</strong><br />
certification system is administered and supervised by the Board of Certification Body.<br />
In both governing bodies there are representatives of the interested public, economic and industrial<br />
associations, as well as delegates of institutions representing the customers for <strong>SIQ</strong>’s services.
