Family info & census extractions indicate that David W. b. ca1822; Lucinda B. ca1822; Francis A. b. cal 823; Moses; George b. cal&30; & Isaiah b. cal 835 were siblings all b. in NC and that Jane Mock was their mother. Were they children of Moses Mock & Jane Williams? Moses (1799-??) was probably the son of Philip (1752-1821) and Mary Magdalene Mock and probably died bet. 1835-1840. Jane Williams (1799-??) was the dau. of Francis Williams and prob. d. in Franklin Co,IL bet. 1860 & 1870. Need records and information on these families. ILL. Dittig Found Theobald & Phillip Mack Sons of John Mack of Berks Co.,PA Steve Lapp While filing away loose notes and copies (I should Finish by 2000!), and rereading the "M" section from the 1 994 book Pennsylvania Births - Philadelphia County, , by I lumphrey, I discovered the Following entries from "Records of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Germantown'': 1. Mack Theobald b. 30 Oct 1749 to parents, Johannes and Maria Agnes. 2. Mak, Joh. Philipp b. 14 Jan 1753 to parents, Johans and Maria Agnesa. In the MFH Vol. 1, #5,pg 44-45, an article and Family Chart for Philip Mack states Philip's birth as 27 Oct 1752, PA (?). It would appear that the first wife of John Mack (he died in Reading, Berks Co.,PA) is this Maria Agnes, mother of Theobald/Devalt and Phillip Mack/Mock . This still does not explain the older Devalt Mock in the North Carolina records, but it does further identify the Cont'd on next page

I'm quite pleased with this find and want to get a complete copy of the St. Michael's Lutheran Church at Germantown records (not to be confused with the same name church in Philadelphia) which begin in 1741. IF the above John Mack is indeed the same as the John Mack who died 14 Sep 1784, Berks Co., PA, then he cannot be the John Mack listed as an immigrant on the ship St. Andrew , qualifying in Philadelphia on 23 Sep 1752, as so many researchers have claimed. *Steve Lapp - 98 Whitney St., San Francisco, CA 94131 - 415-826-8166 Ed. Mock 3/2 - I have traced my line back to Balthazar Macke cal640, mainly at Braunton, North Devon, U.K. The surname appears to have been very numerous in Devon and I have quite a large number of references to other Mock's in Devon and elsewhere inEngland before that date, but I have been unable to link in with my tine. I have made an extensive search for the elusive Balthazar, unfortunately I have not been able to find his birth/baptism, marriage or death date. At the same time I have collected many hundred of Mock references and have helped many people with their Mock lines. I have quite an extensive database on the surname which is growing rapidly. _4/4/95 1 am amazed and extremely pleased to see and hear of the MFH and the dedicated group of researchers. l would very much like to join your association...1 have found that several members of my line have emigrated to New Zealand, Australia and Canada, but so far none to the U.S.A. I have many "missing" dates of death etc. , so it would not surprise me in the least to find that some had come to your country_ Do you have any immigration lists of Mock's coming to the U.S. from the U.K.? A few years ago I heard from Rudi (Rudolf) Mock who lives in Cornwall here in England. He told me that he came to this country in WWII as a prisoner of war. He stayed after the war and married an English lass. He later set up in business in Cornwall. His home is Northern Bavaria, a small village called Oberstrue, near Mellrichstadt, Mainfranken. He told me the Mock surname is a descriptive name meaning "the plump fat man or the clumsy awkward man" Daphne [my wife] was rather amused at this description. Again, thank you for writing.
