of our fair trade artisan partners in Ecuador and<br />
Vietnam, Faire Collection is a fresh interpretation of<br />
artisanal craftsmanship. Founder, Amanda Judge and<br />
her team travel to remote corners of the globe to<br />
develop the skills of marginalized artisans, and to share<br />

OUR PROCESS<br />
Faire Collection works with several kinds of natural<br />
materials, including tagua, which are sustainably<br />

In Ecuador, Faire Collection has been implementing<br />
a scholarship program for many years. This<br />
program is available to Faire Collection artisans,<br />
their families and select members of the extended<br />
community. These scholarships include<br />
academic scholarships to high school, university, as<br />
well as vocational fair trade training programs.<br />

After agriculture, the artisan sector is the<br />
primary source of income in the developing<br />
world. However, local artisans find<br />
themselves trapped in their local micro<br />
economies unable to earn enough to<br />
support themselves and their families.<br />

ENDING THE CYCLE<br />

Steady and lucrative employment is the<br />
first step to emerging from poverty,<br />
however, deep-rooted poverty has<br />
detrimental effects that an increase in<br />
income alone will not ameliorate. The<br />
complexities of generational poverty<br />
require a multifaceted approach that goes<br />
beyond raising income levels, and extends<br />
to creating positive social behavioral<br />
patterns, which can be passed down to the<br />

A DAY IN THE <br />
<strong>FAIRE</strong> WORKSHOP<br />
A group of skilled artisans expertly create each piece of jewelry<br />
with an amazing attention to detail. The workshop is full of<br />
laughter and friendly chatter as the women share recipes, tips<br />
for childrearing, and many inside jokes. The workshop a place<br />
of community, born from a shared bond built on hope for the<br />
future. In Ecuador, 61% of the population is informally<br />
employed, exposing them to labor abuse, lack of health care,<br />
and exploitive working conditions. In sharp contrast to the<br />
majority of artisan production which only offers informal<br />
employment paid by piece rate, Faire Collection artisans are<br />
formally employed with a guaranteed base salary, paid<br />
vacation, paid maternity leave, full health insurance and<br />
retirement benefits. Additionally, as 100% of our employees<br />
are women, we know the careful balance facing working<br />
mothers, so we allow our artisans to set their own working<br />
