OGR: Please can you briefly introduce
yourself and tell us about your company
Ashish: I am Ashish Chaturvedy, the Marketing
Manager of Dubai Cable Company (Pvt) Ltd.
Ducab or Dubai Cable Company (Pvt) Ltd, is a
technologically advanced cable manufacturer,
established in the United Arab Emirates by the
Government of Dubai as a joint venture with
BICC cables. Today, it is jointly owned by the
Investment Corporation of Dubai and Senaat
(General Holding Corporation, Abu Dhabi),
generating approximately USD1.5bn revenue in
2015.
Ducab was established in 1979 and operates five
manufacturing facilities in the UAE, also
acquired AEI Cables in UK and is soon to open
Ducabi Aluminium Company (DAC), a joint
venture with Senaat. Ducab’shead office is at
Jebel Ali in Dubai.
Ducab employs more than 1500 employees of
over 28different nationalities. The company
generated approximately USD1.5bn revenue in
the year 2015.
OGR: What exactly does your company do?
Give details (for example, the various
product lines offered, their features and areas
of application; production capacity).
Ashish: Ducab is a leading provider of cables
and wires solutions, and has the manufacturing
capability of over 115,000 metal tonnes of high,
medium and low voltage cables and 110,000
tonnes of copper rod and wire per annum.
Through its innovative journey, Ducab has
continued its strong rate of growth in specialised
products by introducing product lines that are
designed for particular sectors, such as Ducab
PetroBICC, designed for the Oil, Gas and
Petrochemical sector, Ducab RuBICC, with
flexible rubber cables, Ducab FlamBICC, the
fire-performance cable series, Ducab
andDucabNuBICC, a 60-year certified cable
range for nuclear power plants.
The product range also includes High Voltage
to 33kV, Low Voltage power cables, control &
auxiliary, wiring and lead-sheathed cables, Low
cable components and cable accessories.
OGR: Have you exhibited at previous
editions of Middle East Electricity? If so,
what are your comments about the event and
how was the response to your stand? Were
there any sales/deals negotiated at previous
shows.
Ashish Chaturvedy, Marketing Manager,
Dubai Cable Company (Pvt) Ltd
Ashish: Ducab has participated in several editions
at Middle East Electricity and has partnered with
the event numerous times as a sponsor. We believe
the event attracts a great number of key decision
makers and players in the MENA power industry
and we see it as a great opportunity to network with
our existing suppliers and customers, as well as
reach out to potential clients in new markets, local
and international.
At the event every year, we showcase our new and
existing specialized products as well as initiatives
such as PowerOverFire by Ducab, a mobile
roadshow in a custom-branded 40-foot truck that
travels the UAE and distributes fire safety
information to general public, dealers and retailers
in the electrical product supply chain. In 2015, the
truck was present at the event to drive conversation
on fire safety.
OGR: What are the factors that have
encouraged your company to exhibit at Middle
East Electricity?
Ashish: Ducab’s participation at the Middle East
Electricity Exhibition is a demonstration of our
commitment to support the region’s growing
energy sector. The nature and size of the show make
it the ideal platform to showcase our specialist
products, cables and wires, and to raise awareness
of quality cabling.
OGR: What does your company intend to
promote at the exhibition? Are you introducing
any new products to the MENA market at this
exhibition? Are you targeting a new market?
Ashish: We will be showcasing our entire range of
Low-Voltage, Medium-Voltage and High-Voltage
power cables for the energy and transmission
sector. This will include our products that are
specialised for use in particular sectors, such as
Ducab PetroBICC,
designed for the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical
sector,DucabRuBICC, with flexible rubber
cables,Ducab FlamBICC, the Fire-Performance
cable series, Ducab MarineBICC for marine and
shipbuilding and Ducab NuBICC, which is a 60++
year certified cable range for nuclear power plants.
Ducab’s ‘DuPan’ range of flexible panel wires will
also be on the stand in multiple configurations,
capacities, and colours.
In a joint venture with Senaat, Ducab earlier
announced the formation of Ducab Aluminium
Company, a 50,000tpa aluminium rod mill. The
plant is in the final stages and is on track to start
production of Electrical Conductive (EC) grade
aluminium alloy rods, wires, and bare overhead
conductors. The plant is located in the Khalifa
Industrial Zone of Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) and will
target the GCC and MENA regions for overhead
conductors and wires.
OGR: Please highlight the new products that
you have recently introduced or are looking at
launching in the market. (Elaborate on the main
features of the product including areas of
applications and advantages offered by it).
Ashish: Using the latest technology and expanding
our range of specialised products, we introduced
the Ducab MarineBICC range of cables customised
for the marine and offshore industry. These highquality
and long-life cables are suitable for extreme
temperatures and moisture, and are braided for
extra protection, without affecting the flexibility of
the cable. In order to improve fire safety onboard
ships, barges, and offshore platforms, the Ducab
MarineBICC product range is also fire-safetycertified,
fire -retardant and with low smoke
emission. We have other exciting products in the
pipeline for 2017.
OGR: How has business been for your company
this year and how does it compare with last year?
Ashish: The past few years have witnessed a
demand in power cables in the GCC across Low
Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV),
High Voltage (HV), and Extra High Voltage (EHV)
cables as new power projects begin to take shape,
albeit at a slower pace as expected.
This year Ducab has seen a steady pipeline of
projects both regionally and internationally.
Ducab’s nuclear power-qualified cable range,
Ducab NuBICC was recently selected by the
Korean Hydro-Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP) for the
Shin Hanul 1 & 2 Nuclear power plant under
construction currently.
This project win represents the first international
nuclear project for Ducab, building on their
successful nuclear cable supply engagement with
the UAE’s Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation
(ENEC).
