<strong>Jazz</strong> for Young Musicians<br />

Experiment & Alexandra Ridout Quintet<br />

This seminar focuses on development of careers in<br />

jazz for young musicians. It features members of<br />

two high profile young bands, Jam Experiment and<br />

the Alexandra Ridout Quintet, both bands featuring<br />

winners of the prestigious BBC Young <strong>Jazz</strong> Musician of<br />

the Year Award - Alexander Bone (2014), and Alexandra<br />

Ridout (2016).<br />

The seminar will be a relaxed and informal affair. There<br />

may be one or two tunes. Band members will talk<br />

about their choice of instrument, their development as<br />

young musicians, commenting on challenges faced,<br />

before being open to a few questions and answers<br />

from a discerning audience!<br />

The seminar will be of special interest to young people<br />

and aspiring musicians, but jazz fans of any age will be<br />

eager to discover more about these young musicians<br />

and their achievements.<br />

Date: Sunday 30 April, Stage 10:00am to 12:00noon |<br />

Venue: Holmes Mill | Tickets: Advance: £7 covers parent<br />

& child for one session. | Line-up: Workshop Leader -<br />

Beth Bishop; Brighter Sound - Kate Lowe.<br />

Brighter Sound presents Shake, Rattle & Roll –<br />

musical fun for babies, toddlers aged 0 to 4, and<br />

their parents.<br />

Explore instruments, create sounds, sing songs, dance,<br />

move, socialise and make a big noise. Shake, Rattle &<br />

Roll sessions give children the opportunity to explore,<br />

learn and build musical skills and understanding.<br />

Parents get a chance to learn new songs and lots of<br />

musically interactive activities and games to continue<br />

to sing and play at home. Shake, Rattle & Roll sessions<br />

include new songs composed by Early Years music<br />

specialist Beth Bishop as well as some old favourites.<br />

Two separate sessions at 10am to 10:50 and 11am –<br />

11:50am - Just 30 places at each session.<br />
