315-445-2360 | www.jccsyr.org JCC Camp Rishon Teen & Pre-Teen Programs Junior Camp Aide • For campers entering grades 7–10 • Week 1: June 26–30 • Week 2: July 3–7 (not 7/4) • Week 6: July 31 – August 4 This program is designed for pre-teens and young teens who are too old for our School- Age Camp but still too young to become a Camp Aide or CIT. Junior Camp Aides will learn valuable skills such as teamwork and cooperation as they prepare to become a future Camp Aide or CIT. Participants will still be able to enjoy the daily camp experience while taking on more responsibility than the average camper. The Junior Camp Aide fee is $103 per week for JCC of Syracuse members and $155 per week for non-members. Camp Aide • Camp Aides must be 14-years old at time of attendance • Weeks 1–8 Each Camp Aide will work with a counselor as a job coach during his or her week at the JCC. The Camp Aide will be assigned to a group and assist the counselors and CITs. Camp Aides will have the added advantage of participating in the programs of their group. Swimming, field trips and overnights are all included in this camp. Camp Aides may be required to attend a meeting/training with the Camp Director. Though there is no guarantee of group assignments, the Camp Director will work with the Camp Aides in order to accommodate their interests. Requests are encouraged, but not guaranteed. JCC of Syracuse Family Membership is required to enroll in the Camp Aide program. The fee is $103 per week. Space is limited. Counselor in Training (CIT) • CITs must be 15-years old at time of attendance • Weeks 1–8 Develop leadership skills, learn the basics of camp counseling, and provide support to camp groups. Each CIT will be assigned to a group that he or she will assist all week long. CITs will report to counselors and the head counselor for job duties. An interview may be required prior to acceptance. CITs may need to attend counselor meetings and/or training. This is a great way to get some experience before applying to be a Camp Counselor at the JCC next summer! JCC Family Membership is required to enroll in CIT. The CIT fee is $52 per week. Space is Limited. Use the registration form on page 9. 22 JCC of Syracuse | 2017 Summer Camp Guide
315-445-2360 | www.jccsyr.org SyraCruisin’ Travel Camp for Teens Calling All Teen Adventurers! Experience a new adventure each day SyraCruisin’ Travel Camp for Teens is designed exclusively to meet the needs of today’s young teens entering grades 7–10. We’ll take regular field trips to places that have been selected based upon the capability to encourage social and cultural awareness, community service, team building and just plain fun! Each session will feature different field trips so each day will be completely different from the next. Trips will include overnights every other week all around New York State! SyraCruisin’ schedule Week 3: July 10–14 Week 4: July 17–21 Week 5: July 24–28 Week 7: August 7–11 Week 8: August 14–18 We’ve added more field trips and less downtime at the JCC this summer! What you can expect each week • Local and/or regional field trips—no same field trip will occur twice! • One community service day. Teens will give back to the community by volunteering at Camp Rishon or other public service or nonprofit organizations. Everyone will earn certificates of completion for these service hours. Use the registration form on page 9. • Overnights on weeks 3, 5 and 8. • All field trips and fees are included in the price of camp. Late return to the JCC on some nights. Have the time of your life... Sign up for all five weeks or go week-to-week. Camper space is limited, so please register early! Time: 9 am – 4 pm, Monday–Friday • Early Care available 7:30–9 am and Late Care available 4–6 pm daily.
