Promoting Emotional
Wellbeing
Did you know that 1 in 10 children aged between
5 and 16 years has a mental health problem?
All funded activities must be completed by 31st
July 2017. Applications will be considered on a
bi-monthly basis with the following deadlines:
10th May 2017
10th July 2017 (pending availability of funds)
T
he Community Access Support Service
(CASS) works with community,
equality and faith groups to improve
awareness of mental health and provide better
links to support services in Bristol. As part of
their work, they are keen to promote the new
Emotional Wellbeing Fund to groups to run
activities aimed at improving the wellbeing of
children and their families.
This new opportunity, funded by Bristol City
Council for one year, will offer grants of up to
£1,000 per activity aimed at children of primary
school age and their families.
The programme (totalling £30,900) will
meet the needs of vulnerable groups, along
with areas with identified poor mental
health. The aim of the activities will be to:
Raise awareness of the importance of
positive mental health and address the
stigma attached to poor mental health
Improve access to information, support
and services
Promote self-help and the importance
of reaching out for help as early as
possible when problems arise
A Tale of
Two Clubs
T
he Redcliffe Gardening Club
is pleased to have started an
exchange with the Year 7 Eco-
Club at St Mary Redcliffe and Temple
School. Fifteen school pupils joined the
Gardening Club before Christmas to make
festive wreaths from natural materials.
Since then the Gardening Club has visited
the school to teach the Eco-Club how to
make recycled bird feeders. Both clubs
are excited to be sharing knowledge and
enthusiasm for the environment.
The Redcliffe Gardening Club warmly
welcomes new members to join them on
Thursdays 10am-12noon. No experience
necessary, all abilities welcome! Contact
Amy for more information 07410 379704
The club is also running a Spring open
event for all local residents on Saturday
1st April, 10am-1.30pm in Somerset
Square. Come and have a go, or just
chat over a cup of tea. Free activities
for children.
