Metro feeder buses in Lahore<br />

LAHORE, Mar 20: Punjab<br />
Chief Minister Shehbaz<br />
Sharif Monday formally<br />
launched 200 new air-conditioned<br />
public buses on<br />
feeder routes for the Lahore<br />
Metro Bus routes. The<br />
feeder bus service will connect<br />
the rest of the city with<br />
the 27-km-corridor of the<br />
Metro Bus.<br />
As per details, there will<br />
be 14 routes (129 Km of<br />
route length) and the bus<br />
will arrive after every 10<br />
minutes. There will be<br />
automatic fare collection<br />
system.<br />

admission in Matric to PhD<br />
programs for Spring <strong>2017</strong><br />
semester. According to data<br />
collected by the University,<br />
there is bigger number of<br />
students who collected<br />
prospectus for the admission<br />
till now, as compared to<br />
the correspondent period<br />
last year.<br />
The ratio of fresh students<br />
taking admission is<br />
highly encouraging, said<br />
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr.<br />
Shahid Siddiqui while presiding<br />
over a meeting that<br />
held here to review the<br />
equipped with features of<br />
automated announcement,<br />
surveillance system, ramp<br />
for specially challenged<br />
admission process.<br />
It was noted that the<br />
retention rate of continuing<br />
students also went up.<br />
Keeping in view the students’<br />
interest, the Vice<br />
Chancellor had extended the<br />
last date of admission till<br />
<strong>March</strong> 25, without late fee<br />
to accommodate the aspiring<br />
students. There has been<br />
consider rush of aspiring<br />
students in the recent days at<br />
the University’s regional<br />
and coordinating offices<br />
across the country, seeking<br />
admissions.<br />
Interest being shown by<br />
the students continuing their<br />
study through the distance<br />
learning system is highly<br />
remarkable, Dr. Shahid<br />
Siddiqui said adding, It also<br />
reflects the growing trust of<br />
the people in the<br />
University’s learning system<br />
that was further<br />
improved through smart use<br />
of new technology and better<br />
management.<br />
The students thanked the<br />
Vice Chancellor for the<br />
extension of the last date<br />
and his personal interest in<br />
upgrading students’ facilities,<br />
under the students’ support<br />

measures have been<br />
taken for facilitating the<br />
person (wheelchair passengers),<br />
seats for specially<br />
challenged persons, door<br />
sensor for passengers’ safety<br />
and temperature inside<br />
the bus can also be viewed<br />
in the control centre.<br />

agency died in a road<br />
mishap within the jurisdiction<br />
of Saddar Baironi<br />
police.<br />
According to media<br />
reports, Naib Subedar<br />
Zahid Khan was on his<br />
way while riding a motorcycle<br />
when on Adiala road<br />
a speedy motorcycle hit<br />
with him. Resultantly his<br />
motorcycle became out of<br />
control and it collided<br />
with another trolley. Naib<br />
Subedar sustained serious<br />
injuries and later died.<br />
Police shifted the dead<br />
body to nearby local hospital<br />
for autopsy and later<br />
