TAX TIPS
ORGANIZE YOUR TAX RECORDS
The key to a smooth tax season is to keep
your tax records organized. Use our Tax
Prep Checklist to help gather all of the
documents needed for your return. Collect
any tax documents you receive in the mail
and store them in a safe place with your
prior year return so everything will be easy
to find when you’re ready to file.
MAX OUT YOUR RETIREMENT
ACCOUNTS
You have until April 18, 2017 to
contribute up to $5,500 ($6,500 if
you’re 50 or older) to a traditional or
Roth IRA for 2016. As long as you aren’t
covered by a retirement plan at work,
the full amount of your traditional IRA
contributions can be deducted on your
tax return. If you are covered by a plan
at work, your deduction may be limited
depending on your income. Roth IRA
contributions won’t lower your tax bill
but the withdrawals will be tax-free
when you retire.
ITEMIZE YOUR DEDUCTIONS
For 2016, the standard deduction is
$6,300 for singles and $12,600 for married
couples filing a joint return. Although
it may be easier to take the standard
deduction, you may actually save more
money by itemizing instead. Not only
does ezTaxReturn make it easy to claim
your expenses, we’ll even compare your
standard and itemized deductions so you
can get the biggest possible refund.
PROVIDE THE CORRECT DEPENDENT
INFORMATION
Make sure you provide the correct
social security numbers and date of
birth for each dependent listed on your
tax return. If you don’t, your return
will be rejected and you’ll miss out on
money saving credits like the Child Tax
Credit which is worth up to $1,000 per
qualifying child. Remember, if you’re
divorced, only one parent can claim the
child as a dependent. If you and your exspouse
both try to claim the same child
on your return, one of the returns will be
rejected by the IRS.
FILE AND PAY ON TIME
If you need extra time to prepare your
taxes, you must request an extension
by April 18th. This will give you until
October 16th to file your return without
facing a failure-to-file penalty. If you
don’t file an extension and you owe the
IRS, you will have to pay a failure-tofile
penalty as well as a failure-to-pay
penalty. The penalty for filing late is
usually 5 percent of the unpaid taxes per
month, while the late payment penalty
is usually 0.5 percent of the unpaid taxes
per month.
E-FILE
You can get your refund 3-6 weeks
faster by filing electronically instead of
by paper. The odds of making a costly
mistake are also minimized because
good tax software like ezTaxReturn will
guide you through the process step-bystep,
completing all of the forms and
calculations for you. Start your return
now at ezTaxReturn.com.

Community Information
Community Information
MAILING ADDRESS UPDATES?
Assessment notices are mailed in late November.
Per the Association’s Assessment Collection Policy:
“It is the responsibility of each homeowner to advise
the Association of any mailing address change.”
STREET PARKING
It is recommended that residents try to park their
vehicles in their garages/driveways in the interest
of safety and security. However, if you need to
occasionally park vehicles on the street, your cars
should be parked immediately in front of your own
house and in a location that is considerate of the
other neighbors. In particular, the car should not
be parked where it is subject to being hit by an
across the street neighbor who is trying to gain
ingress/egress from their own driveway.
HERB GARDENS IN THE SPRING
April showers bring May flowers. For the herb
gardens showers and warm days bring the herb
gardens to life. The mild winter has left us with
sage, thyme oregano, chives and Curly and Italian
parsley. Rosemary is not doing well and we have
asked people to use it sparingly. Many Green Trails
residents have taken advantage of our Honor
System which has allowed individual residents
to cut herbs for their cooking needs. The Honor
System has been in place since mid December and
has drawn favorable response. We appreciate how
thoughtfully all of you have used the herb gardens.
Summer herbs and replacements for others that
have died are being planted. Those herbs will not
be ready for cutting until May or June depending
on the weather. Please watch Green Trails
Neighborhood facebook and the official Green
Trails facebook for updates.
FIREWORKS PROHIBITED IN
GREEN TRAILS PHASE II
Fireworks are a violation of the deed restrictions
for the Association of Green Trails Phase II. You
may report violations of this deed restriction to
Crest Management at 281-579-0761 or Heather.
Esteban@crest-management.com. When reporting
a violation of the deed restrictions you must provide
a description of the violation and the address of the
home where the violation exist.
SECURITY TIPS
If you see something suspicious, call the constable
at 281-463-6666.
Turning on exterior lights makes it easier for the
constable or alert neighbors to see your home and
to also see what is going on outside it. Park your
cars in your driveway and lock them. Keep doors
and windows locked (including garages) and
alarms set. Trim shrubs so windows are visible. If
you are going to be out of town, turn in a Vacation
Watch Form. Use timers on lights. See our website
for other tips.
HAVE A DESIRE TO BE PART OF SOMETHING BIG?
The Green Trails HOA has an amazing opportunity
for volunteers to be part of the newly developing I-10
and Fry Rd. beautification project. Come be a part of
this great adventure to help keep our community
a thriving, beautiful, top place to live in the Katy
area. This volunteer team will help an already
chosen landscape architect develop and maintain
the landscaping framework for the I-10 and Fry Rd
intersection and turn this area into a beautiful entry
point into the surrounding community that leads
into the Green Trails subdivision. The landscape
architect has completed the plans and work will
begin this fall. Future projects are expected at the
intersections of I-10 and Green House as well as
I-10 and Barker Cypress; future dates are TBD based
on the success of the first intersection. If you are
interested, please contact Heather Esteban at Crest
management, 281-579-0761 or heather.esteban@
crest-management.com, to apply for this position.
You will be contacted by the responsible Green Trails
Board member in charge of this project for a briefing
of the first scheduled meeting for this committee.
DON’T MISS THIS HUGE COMMUNITY UPLIFTING!
DOGGIE DON’TS
Most of our dog owners are responsible, using a
leash and picking up after your pets. We thank you!
HOWEVER - We have received reports of dog
owners allowing their dogs to defecate and urinate
in yards. This is especially a problem in high-traffic
areas near park entrances. Be aware that it is not
just your dog. Once a yard has been “used,” other
dogs want to do so as well. A resident should not
have to pick up after even one dog, much less ten.
In addition, runners and walkers in our parks don’t
enjoy dodging excrement. Please carry a bag and
pick up after your pet.
Remember also, that even the sweetest dog may
seem intimidating to some people. Respect their
rights and comply with leash laws.
TRASH PICKUP REMINDER
This is a reminder that Green Trails offers back door
trash pickup. Please put your household garbage
in front of your garage door for pickup outside of
the breezeway fence. Heavy trash and recyclables
must be taken to the curb for pickup.
Do Not Put Trash Out the Night Before Pickup
Please put your trash out the morning of trash pickup.
If you put your trash out the night before trash pickup
this allows cats and other animals to be able to get
into your trash causing a mess on the street for the
trash collection workers or yourself to deal with.
SHORT TERM RENTALS NOT ALLOWED
Please be aware that short-term rentals of rooms or
entire properties are a violation of deed restrictions.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGES
Please note that the association pays
electrical charges for a streetlight whether the
bulb is functioning or not. To report street light
outages you can contact CenterPoint Energy at 713-
207-2222 or www.centerpointenergy.com. Be sure
to note the pole number and the street address.
HOME IMPROVEMENT REMINDER
Remember, ALL exterior changes made to your home
or yard [including your fence] require Architectural
Review Committee approval first. In need of an
Exterior Modification Request form? Go to www.
greentrailstwo.com our neighborhood website.
NO CALL IS TOO SMALL
Call the Constable to report any suspicious
activity. The fastest dispatch for Green Trails is
via their direct line at 281-463-6666. If something
“doesn’t seem right,” don’t wait to be sure. Trust
your intuition, call it in and let them decide. You
are our best defense.
Hats off to the lifeguard staff at Park Cypress Pool who
received honors during A Beautiful Pools emergency
testing week. Lifeguards were surprised with a real
life scenario with real people being “victims.” While
all teams did well and were “rescue ready,” the Park
Cypress team was cited as a top performer.
REMOVE VALUABLES, LOCK CARS
Thanks to a resident’s timely call, the constables
made an arrest in connection to car burglaries.
However we need to continue common sense security
practices. Note that 90% of the car burglaries in the
neighborhood were of unlocked cars. Lock your cars
and remove valuables. Report any burglaries, even if
only items of minimal value were taken.
CONTRACTOR COMMUNICATION
Too many bosses - not a good idea. Our contractors
have instructions to take direction from our
management company, Board and committee
chairs only. If you see something you think is a
problem, please contact Crest Management. We
will resolve it as quickly as possible.
YOUR COMMUNITY HERB GARDENS
The Desert Ivy park gardens are very productive;
herb sharings are scheduled for most Tuesday
evenings from 6:30-8 PM. The Park Cypress
gardens are recovering from a mineral deficiency
and are greening up more every day; herb sharings
are being scheduled biweekly until they get
back to full health. Remember, herb sharings are
announced through Crest Management emails and
on the Green Trails Neighborhood Facebook page
(see these sources for updates).
Need more of an incentive to visit our parks
and green spaces? How about some Pokémon?
Pokémon Go has placed Pokémon, Pokéstops and
Gyms in high volume throughout parks and green
spaces. You and your family can collect some new
creatures, get some exercise and take some tasty,
healthy herbs home in one.
MOSQUITO CONTROL
Green Trails II has a mosquito control contract with Excalibur
Mosquito Control, but you can help, too. The best mosquito
control program includes removal of breeding sites. Check your
yards and correct these problem areas:
1. Bowl planters, pots, water dishes and birdbaths, which can
hold dampness or water.
2. Stopped up gutters or standing water in gutters.
3. Remove moisture holding pine needles from roof valleys and
piles around house.
4. Don’t over water your yard. If water stands for more than 20 minutes
after watering, you are over watering.
5. Monitor standing water under decks and around pools or spas.
Spray under deck with garden-variety insecticide regularly or install
a drain. Plastic under decks holds water, so try to eliminate it.
PAINTED CONCRETE
No concrete that is visible from any street, whether a driveway,
sidewalk, patio or other improvement, shall be painted or stained
any color. Concrete that is not visible from any street may be
painted or stained only with ARC approval.
HOME SECURITY INSPECTIONS
Harris County Constable’s Office, Precinct 5 is offering free home
inspections. Why is this beneficial? You can save 5-10% on your
homeowner’s insurance, depending on your carrier. How does
it work? You schedule a time for our officers to come by and
make simple suggestions on how to better secure your home. To
participate contact Deputy John Jerome Kovar. Call one of two
direct lines: 281-642-8814 or 979-733-7734. Or email him at john.
kovar@cn5.hctx.net. To reach our dispatch call 281-463-6666.
Visit our website at www.ConstablePCT5.com.
PAVILION RELEASE FORM
To reserve a park pavilion, please contact Crest Management at 281-579-7061.
REMINDER FOR GATED SECTIONS
Please remember that entry codes are for the use of residents ONLY.
Please ask guests and / or contractors to utilize the gate directory
to obtain access. If contact information in the directory needs to be
updated, please contact Crest Management and provide information.
WEBSITE AND EBLAST INFO
The Website for Green Trails Phase II (www.greentrailstwo.
com) has a “blast email” function. This feature allows the
Association to send news to residents on a mass basis. The
Board of Directors intends to start utilizing this function more
frequently to disseminate important information, particularly
in emergencies like Hurricane Ike. If you have not registered and
would like to do so, please go to the “Join Our Mailing List” section
of the Website. The only information that you need to enter is your
email address. Each of the other items is optional, including your
name. None of the information will be distributed to third parties.
DISCLAIMER
Green Trails Phase II Homeowners Association does not have
a business relationship with or endorse any of the companies
advertising in this newsletter. We remind residents to exercise due
diligence when selecting contractors.
GREEN TRAILS TENNIS
COURT RESERVATIONS
Court Reservation signup sheets are
posted on the bulletin boards at both the
Crescent Green and Park Cypress courts.
The primary purpose of the signup sheets is
to reserve the courts for tennis committee
approved events such as league matches.
The secondary purpose is to facilitate and
referee the use of the courts by residents.
During the winter months, usage of the
courts is mainly by a hard core group of
individuals. As the weather improves,
demand for the courts will increase.
Adhering to the following set of guidelines
for the signup sheets will allow fair usage
of our courts by all residents.
Residents must use last names only.
Residents may reserve a court no sooner
than 48 hours in advance for a 1 1/2 hour
time period only by writing their last name
on 3 blocks of the signup sheet. (Each
block represents 30 minutes). If your match
extends beyond your reserved time period
and no one else is waiting to use the court,
you are free to continue playing. These
rules are posted on the bulletin boards
and are designed to allow maximum court
usage for all residents.
For safety reasons, tennis activities using
a basket of balls are not permitted during
prime time on the Crescent Green courts.
Multiple balls lying on the courts is a safety
hazard for others using the courts. Prime
hours are every day, 8-10:30 AM and 6-9
PM. The court on Park Cypress is a single
court on which multiple balls lying on the
ground is not a hazard to others. If you
want to use a basket of balls, reserve the
court on Park Cypress.
Anyone, including tennis pros, wanting
to reserve REGULAR court time or
to reserve the courts for a SPECIAL
event in advance, must contact the
tennis committee for approval through
Greg Kubala-281-507-6343 or Jim
Haylett-281-795-3552.
These policies are in place to ensure safe,
fair and equal access for all residents
desiring to use of our courts. Individuals
not adhering to this signup policy can have
their names removed from the signup sheet
by members of the tennis committee. In
addition, FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH AND
ADHERE TO THE POSTED GREEN TRAILS
TENNIS COURT POLICIES CAN RESULT IN
DEACTIVATION OF YOUR CARD KEY FOR ONE
MONTH. If a committee member speaks to
you about a violation and you still do not
comply with these guidelines, your access
card could be deactivated for one month.
LEAGUE TENNIS: Ladies HLTA and WHLTA
tennis leagues are approved to play on
Mondays and Wednesdays in the Fall and
Spring from 9 AM-12 PM. Currently there
is a A-2 team playing on Monday and
Championship and a A-3 teams playing
on Wednesday. All league rosters are
currently full but if you are interested
in playing ladies league tennis contact
Elaine Kearney to get on a wait list for the
following season, 281-492-6848.
A Senior Men’s USTA team will play out of
our courts in July and August. If you are
interested, have a yearend USTA rating of
3.5, 4.0 or 4.5 and will be at least 55 years
old this year, please text Jim Haylett at
281-795-3552 as soon as possible.
ACCESS CARDS: New residents needing
tennis/pool access cards can contact Crest
Management at 281-579-0761. Access
cards are for residents only. Card access is
the only way to insure our courts are only
being used and cared for by our residents
and their guests, please do not open the
gates for anyone not having a card. Do not
loan out your card.
MAGNETIC GATE: Please do not keep the gate
open by hindering it’s closure with an item.
This causes the automatic lock to malfunction.
VANDALISM: Your yearly maintenance fees
directly pay for vandalism on the courts.
Our goal is to keep these costs down while
maintaining the nice amenities in our
neighborhood for all residents. Please let
your children know if they are observed
abusing our courts and/or their equipment,
the Constable will be called to escort
them home. Anyone can report vandalism
directly to the Constable at 281-463-6666,
in the effort to keep our neighborhood’s
common areas in good condition.
MAINTENANCE: The lights at the Gerry
Ayers courts are numbered. Please
note the number of the light that is out
before calling to have it repaired. Any
maintenance problems at the courts can
be reported to Brigitte Hobbesland, 713-
591-0880 or Crest Management. The tennis
court lights are on a timer, they should
come on at dusk and turn off by 10:30 PM.
KATY ISD PARTNERS IN EDUCATION
CELEBRATED MENTORS AT TIES & TIARAS
Katy ISD celebrated the time, effort and heart of KEYS mentors - while
supporting KEYS Scholarships - at Ties & Tiaras on March 9 th from 5:30-
7:30 PM at NOAH’S of Katy. This year’s festivities included honoring the
2017 Mentors of the Year and KEYS Scholarship Sponsors, along with
entertainment provided by a stringed ensemble from Tompkins High
School. Also, joining the event was the Cinco Ranch High School student
artists who created this year’s KEYS scholarship masterpiece
Every year Ties & Tiaras honors Katy ISD’s family of mentors, who
spend up to one hour each week with their students. In particular, the
event recognizes a few individuals who’ve sustained relationships and
dedication to the KEYS program year after year. The Katy ISD 2017 Mentors
of the Year and their respective KEYS campuses, were:
Fred Crist, McDonald Junior High
Kevin Drury, Rylander Elementary
James Grima, Wolfe Elementary
Kirsten Hampshire, Seven Lakes High School
Steven Herold, Bear Creek Elementary
Don Mach, Taylor High School
Karen Morey, Hayes Elementary
Donna Ortiz, Cardiff Junior High
Susan Reilly, Katy High School
Collectively, this group represents 51 years of service to the KEYS program,
having mentored a total of 35 students between them. Since its inception
in 2006, the KEYS Scholarship Fund has awarded over $300,000 to
graduating KEYS seniors. KEYS - Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success -
is a relationship initiative that matches a caring adult with a student on the
brink of success for up to one hour a week, during the school day, during
the school year. Piloted during the 1995-1996 school year, this program
now extends to every campus in Katy ISD. KEYS is not a tutoring program,
but rather a relationship program, with many mentors and their students
sustaining their friendship year after year. To learn more, visit Partners
in Education under the “Community” tab at www.katyisd.org or contact
is coming on April 7 th , from 5-8:30 PM. Everyone is invited,
free of charge, to “Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Carnival!”
The event will transport families to a strange, colorful
world of magic and rainbows - smack dab in the middle of
the Emerald City!
Carnival is one of two annual fundraisers for NCE and
typically attracts hundreds of Katy residents and their
families. It will take place at the NCE campus, 20500
Kingsland Blvd. Katy, Texas. Activities will include many
games and rides, including the Wizzer Ride (great for older
Train and kids of all ages can capture photos with their
friends in the Wizard of Oz-themed Photo Booth.
In the food and beverage department, NCE will be offering
a sampling of culinary delights! Chick-Fil-A also returns this
year, along with the Chick-Fil-A cow. Pizza and Tutti Frutti for
dessert also will be available.
Don’t forget the Silent Auction, bound to tantalize with themed
baskets from each NCE class, as well as parties, the muchanticipated
kickball game and the wildly popular Silly String
Wars. Previous auctions have included a weekend getaway
in a Galveston condo! Stay tuned to NCE’s Facebook page for
details on this year’s auction items!
Kids are invited to wear Wizard of Oz costumes to the Carnival
- as a reminder to everyone that kindness is empowering! And
everyone is encouraged to wear their dancing shoes (from
ruby slippers to sneakers) and participate in the Carnival
Dance Contest. Prizes for 1 st and 2 nd place will be awarded!
Volunteers from Taylor High School will be lending a helping
hand to this year’s event and many local businesses have
shown their support of NCE by sponsoring this year’s Carnival.
All sponsorship dollars are applied toward purchases to
improve the school. Tickets for rides and activities can be
purchased at the door on the night of the event. A 40-ticket
card will cost $20 and single tickets will cost $1 each. So mark
your calendars to get the heck out of Kansas on Friday, April
7 th . We’ll see you…over the rainbow!
TAX TIPS FOR APRIL
NEED MORE TIME?
April 15 (this year, the 18 th ) isn’t far off. Do you need more time
to gather your tax information? Then ask for it! An individual
may request a six-month extension of time to file Form 1040, to
October 15 using Form 4868. No reason is necessary. The request
must be postmarked or e-filed by the due date; no late extension
requests will be considered.
Your next question is “will it cause me to be audited?” and the
answer is NO! In fact, many tax professionals believe the opposite,
that it might reduce audit chances.
Note, the filing extension is not an extension of time to pay any
balance due. If necessary, and if possible, a payment should
accompany the extension request to avoid interest and possible
late payment penalty.
Trust me on this: There are not enough accountants on the
planet to prepare all returns by their original due dates. In the big
picture, extensions are a necessity, or the system would fall apart.
Only by spreading the work over a longer period of time can the
profession as a whole even hope to produce quality work for so
many taxpayers.
Form 4868 is available in your tax software, online at www.irs.gov,
or from me.
Filing by April 15 is a lovely thing, but there are no awards handed
out for doing so. So, extend that return!
DID YOU OVERLOOK SOMETHING?
When I look over prior year returns for new clients, I often see that
a deduction was missed or that there was another error of some
kind. In most cases, this can be fixed by filing an amended tax
return, Form 1040X.
The general rule is that you have three years to amend a return.
If you filed your 2013 return by April 15, 2014, you have until April
15, 2017 to amend it.
Form 1040X must be paper-filed; it is not yet possible to
electronically file them. For smooth processing, various
attachments must be included. They usually are not a do-ityourself
project; professional assistance is recommended!
~~~
Professional assistance with your taxes is important. Please visit
me online at www.kucera-cpa.com to learn more.
April Gardening Tips
Mulch - If possible, buy Bagged Mulch. Bagging helps eliminate a great many
pests that die from various causes while in the bag. When you buy ‘loose’
mulch that is trucked to your home, you are also buying ants, roaches,
termites, etc… Spend a little more on bagged material and save lots of future
pest problems. Keep your mulch at least 4” - 6” below the top of your homes
exposed foundation edge/side. This will aid in minimizing pests in your home
and allow for quick and accurate termite inspections.
Shrubs, Flowers and groundcovers - Trim all shrubs/plants at least 12” - 18”
back from your home. Do your best to create a plant free zone that is 18” - 24”
wide around your home. The exception is your lawn - it can grow up next to
the slab as long as you keep it 4” - 6” below the top of the slab. The most
conducive to termite infestation are groundcover plantings, growing high
against your homes exterior or (especially) ivy that grows on your walls.
Trees - Spray your trees at least twice annually. The spring spray eliminates
overwintering pests and fungi while preparing trees to resist the pest
onslaught of summer with residual pesticides. The fall spray also kills pests
from the summer, prevents most fungi from occurring over the winter and
puts your valuable asset off to a healthy winter’s dormancy.
Lawn - Spring is the perfect time to do a fungicide treatment to stop brown
patch in its tracks along with other fungi. If your lawn is thin and weak in
some areas, here are some important fundamentals: a) lawn aeration b)
fertilization c) weed control.
Most important is proper watering:
• Water once per week (unless you get a 1/2” rain or more - then do not water.)
• Water heavily (1” - 2”) for total lawn coverage.
• In severe drought, water every 5 th day.
• Water from 5 AM to 7 AM in the morning - NOT AT NIGHT.
• A heavy deep weekly watering makes the turf grow deeper, stronger and
more drought resistant roots.
• Less watering also saves you money!!
FOSTER CHILDREN:
PREPARATION FOR ADULT LIVING (PAL)
When foster children reach age 18, they are considered independent.
That’s difficult for kids who have been wards of the state, with necessities
arranged by caseworkers with state funds. Now they’ll have to figure out
how to organize themselves and make their money last a whole month.
Fortunately, Child protective Services offers them a program to help
prepare for independence: Preparation for Adult Living (PAL). The yearlong
course culminates in an all-day workshop hosted by the National
Council for Jewish Women (NCJW).
The course is held at Junior Achievement’s BizTown, using computer
kiosks sponsored by local businesses. Want to help with PAL or other
NCJW programs that help change lives with hands-on community service?
Contact info@ncjwhouston.org or see www.ncjwhouston.org.
GIVE A SENIOR THE GIFT OF MOBILITY!
KATY AREA RIDE SERVICE NEEDS YOUR HELP DRIVING OLDER ADULTS
Katy Area Ride Service (KARS) is looking for your assistance in transporting
seniors in need of personal (hair salon, bank, classes, volunteering,
visiting a loved one, taking a pet to the vet) and occasional medical rides.
Rides are provided in your personal vehicles to passengers who are age
65+ and ambulatory (not wheelchair bound, may use walking aids). Time
commitment is flexible and you choose the Katy territory in which you want
to drive. Volunteers do not provide rides that go east of Barker Cypress,
north of Clay Road, west of FM 1463 or south of Bellaire Blvd at the Grand
Parkway. Benefits to Volunteer Drivers include the opportunity to help
seniors retain independent living, dignity and freedom. Drivers tell us the
day(s) and times they are able to drive. Drivers choose if they wait for the
senior or return later to pick them up. Drivers must be between 21 years
of age and 78 years of age with a good driving record, pass a background
check and show proof of insurance coverage (state minimums) as required
by the State of Texas. To request a volunteer driver application, call 832-
773-8645 or email info@karskaty.org. KARS operates under an official
501(c)(3) that designates it as a transportation service provider for seniors
and non-wheelchair bound persons with disabilities.
NATIONAL SUPERHERO DAY
National Superhero Day is observed annually on April
28 th . This is a day to honor superheroes, both real and
fictional. Batman, Superman, Captain America, Wonder
Woman, Iron Man, Hulk and Spiderman are just some of
the superheroes whose names we recognize. Even though
they are fictional, these superheroes are great role models
for our children. They serve and protect while fighting
evil. Our real-life superheroes may not have super powers
or wear capes, but they are also great role models who
serve and protect while fighting evil. Military personnel,
police officers and firefighters are just a few of the
heroes who protect us on a daily basis. Take your favorite
superhero to lunch and say thank you for all
they do. Post photos on social media using
#NationalSuperheroDay. National Superhero
Day was created in 1995 by Marvel Comics
