Delabole School This Term has been extremely busy at Delabole School with our children taking part in so many memorable experiences. The most memorable milestone for our children was the residential visit to London. What a fantastic experience it was and the children were superb ambassadors for the school. Meanwhile, the Year 5 and 6 pupils who remained in school were lucky enough to experience a drama workshop with the Royal Shakespeare Company at Treviglas School in Newquay. They were then mesmerized by a performance of ‘The Tempest’. It is my absolute pleasure to inform our community that since that experience, our school has become an affiliated school to The Royal Shakespeare Company as a result of our pupils’ commitment and skills on the day. This means that two members of staff will have the opportunity to train with the RSC to deliver the highest quality drama and English skills. Other news includes the extraordinary Garden Project being run by our KS1 pupils in collaboration with some very talented members of our local community. As always, the enthusiasm, energy and sheer determination of our local families and trades will help the children to realise their beautiful ideas for a wildlife and sensory garden in the school grounds. Many of our friends and neighbours will have noticed that a new perimeter fence has gone up over the past few weeks and the front of the school continues to look even smarter. This also means a huge improvement in levels of safety which is paramount on our busy road. We hope that you agree that the school is beginning to look like a community building we can all be proud of. Finally, the school had a very significant monitoring visit from a school improvement officer linked to the Regional Schools Commission at the start of March. He has validated the judgements of the leadership team and acknowledged that standards at the school have risen dramatically over the past months. Truly, the Delabole School community can be proud of its achievements.
