2016 was very busy and productive year for the Jandakot Jets Junior Football Club,
finally the long awaited club room extensions got under way. I would like to take the
opportunity to thank the Cockburn City Council for the time, effort and money that went
into the renovations. I would also like to thank all the other clubs that attended our
ground throughout the year for their understanding and patience as at times conditions
were trying and not what would be expected.
To the season itself, I and the club were very proud of the year’s achievements, we had
835 players spread across Auskick, Girls, Juniors and Youths and we had teams
represented in every grade across all completions.
The club fielded a total of 48 teams which comprised of 20 Auskick Teams inclusive of
2 all girl teams, 1- Girls U12’s team, 19 - Junior teams Y3 – Y7’s and 8 - Youths teams
Y8 – Y12’s.
This was the largest number of players and teams ever fielded in 1 season by the Jets
and the club thanks all the coaches, team managers, parents and most importantly the
players for all their commitment and support throughout the year.
The club was represented at finals time by our Y8’s, Y9’s, Y10’s, and Y12’s teams
unfortunately for these teams they didn’t make it through to the grand finals but once
again the club could not fault the commitment and endeavour of the all the players during
finals time and thank all the teams for the way they represented the club.
We had three Y7 teams play in 2016 and it was pleasing to see at the end of the season
we had those finish 2 nd , 3rd and 5 th respectively at the end of the season which is
exciting for all those players and the club as they move into the Fremantle Conference
Y8 competition in 2017.
The club also had state representation in 2016 with one of
our Y7 players, Jai Evans was selected to represent WA in
the Australian Nation U12 Championships held between
July 22 and 30 in Maroochydore, Queensland. Jai travelled
with the squad to Queensland for the carnival via a stop off
in Melbourne. Jai’s family also attended during the carnival
in Queensland and were very proud, deservedly so of his
achievement. The club congratulations Jai and we are sure
his development will continue as he moves into the Y8
Fremantle Conference in 2017.
Further the club had a very healthy representation of
Warriors in 2016 across Y8, Y9 and especially Y10’s.
